Side Marker Installation Issues

I received my clear side markers today and went on to install them using the DIY found here. When I installed the marker on the right side, all went well. For some reason, when I try to install the side marker on the left, it seems to stick out like the picture below:

Like I said earlier when I installed the right one, it snapped in just fine. Are the side markers marked specifically for each side or are they interchangable for either side? I retried installing it 3 times but still comes out the same. Any idea what it could be?

Did mine today as well. I had a hell of a time with the metal tabs, specifically the #A tab, check those. Also, your pic doesn't work so i don't really know how bad it is.

Weird. I just gave them a good yank to remove and then gave a good shove to re-install. Maybe remove the bad one and make sure the clip isn't bent in or deformed?

They bend pretty easy, but seem pretty sturdy

Give it a good amiunt of pressure of even a good bang

I noticed this as well when I did mine and in the end they would pop out after a while you have to make sure they clip in all the way

The frame piece the clip snaps into needs some support pressure from behind. Using a flat screwdriver to push the tab back while you push the sidemarker in to click and this should help.

Mine snapped in just fine but I had to use some elbow grease. I stuck all 8 fingers in between the wheel well liner and the housing part the marker clips into, then used my thumbs on the markers to press the two pieces together - like holding holding a sandwich.

mine do it too...I'm thinking dome double sided 3m will solve this. They were the first thing I did and every once in a while the left one pops out a bit and I push it back in but it never did "click in" as well as the right one.

I tried some of the advice you all gave me but it didn't work . One thing I noticed is that it take very little pressure for me to pry out my clear side marker, which makes me think theres something wrong with the clip. Carson Toyota will be sending a new one to me so I'm hoping it was just the marker and not my actual car that was causing the problem. :/

When I replaced my bulbs with less I broke one of the A clips. They are only tin and do break with not to much effort.
The top clip (A) goes into a metal rectangle and can be hard to line up. Recheck that the clip is seated in the light and put your finger inside the guard on the metal rectangle to help line it up. It takes patience, if your force it it could break the clip.

By they way you cannot buy just the clip. It is $125 for the light assembly.

i made a new clip and the light went back in no problems first time and stayed there. Lucky I guess. I modelled the clip off the good one on the other side out of scrap tin I had in my shed with a pair of plyers.

GH05T, heres what I did:

I had the same problems as you have on your drivers side marker...So I got a flat head, pulled the sidemarker out, and made sure the receiving end of the tab is straight. I was yanking and pushing so much that the receiving tab began to deform. So straighten it out.

Next I clipped the bottom two tabs in,then rested the top tab. I got a towel and sidelock pliers ready. I folded the towel (to use as a buffer between plier and sidemarker) and placed it between the plier and sidemarker. I moved the wheel well liner away and had the other end of the plier grab the sidemarker receptacle. Use a low amount of force, and the tab should click in properly.

Another thing to suggest is that maybe you're tab is bent outward. Theres a small plastic bump which the metal tab should never extend past. Just use pliers till its all good.

Oh and I got rid of the crappy felt liner and placed a thin strip of electrical tape around the sidemarker...with all my pulling and pushing the felt liner just rolls into itself and makes the sidemarker look ridiculous!

Hope that helps!
