I recommend that everyone leave your car at the dealer. If you have to get into 'Lemon Laws' time at dealer is the major criteria. Put the miles on their loaner car, that's what I am doing.

EDIT: Just got off the phone with dealer and Clayton (Scion Case Manager).
They both tell me the piece of metal came from the aluminum cover during the removal process. I expressed my concern that it was damaged during removal, will need to be replaced and why was it damaged? Was it due to toyota tech working on suby engine? I'm feeling worse and worse about my car. I hope my faith can be restored. Despite that they tell me the car will be ready tomorrow. Only 1 week after getting parts. That's confidence inspiring

Chris

It worries me a little that these service people don't know the correct fix, and he admitted that they do not have direct access to the engineers when problems come up and its harder when its a brand new product. I am feeling pretty lucky now, cuz there was an ECU in Portland and is being shipped overnight and if all goes well I could have my car back tomorrow!!! I am trying not to be excited, but I can't help it!
UPDATE: Got my car back last night. They replaced the ECM (same as ECU I am told) and drove it about 50 miles then let me take it home. So far so good, very peppy and feels like it did when I drove it off the lot! The paint is covered with water spots from their quick run through the car wash and not drying it, but that will be fixed when I get home from work today. They did fill the gas tank though. Boy did I miss that car. The only sad thing is, I am worrying about every little thing...here's to hoping it stays the way it is. :happy0180:

I didn't read your other posts, but just noticed you're from Renton. Which dealership did you take it for servicing? Walkers? Just curious in case I have the same problem - then I can take it somewhere with experience in this issue. Hopefully it won't come to that - car has been pretty rock solid, especially since filling with non-ethanol fuel.

My dealer in the east coast gave me an unkown eta on the ECU in transit from Japan. Could be weeks at this point.

Got the picture from the dealer. They said it was from the cover. They aren't going to replace the cover despite chipping a small piece off during removal.
Service guy called and said car is back together and running. They want to drive it 50 miles (to his house and back) to make sure it won't reappear.

"I got the ECU reprogram two weeks ago, but it didn't fix the problem."

That's awesome. Brand new design. First model year. Customers willing to take a chance on you. Hm, what to do, what to do...I know, save $100 by not installing a new part.

Rage. Just rage. I didn't think this level of basic disrespect was possible.

Even if it's unnecessary on an engineering level, it's the cheapest goodwill you'll ever buy to just take care of the damn customer. You know what makes the first guys in line for a new product special? They're the true believers. You take care of your true believers, because they're walking, talking advertisements who pay you money for the privilege.

Idiots.

Maybe that is why I and others are being sent NEW ECUs, not flashes.

I spoke with my rep and I dont know if Its me having a long week that I am a little less patient then normal but at this point I was given 9/25 as an ETA for parts and that the system updates on mondays and in the same breath told well the parts might not be there so the 25th we will go over your options.

Don't piss on my head and tell me its raining. If you have no ETA tell me hey sorry still no eta on the parts our systems update Mondays we will call you Tuesday and hopefully we have more information then.

Anyone have experience with the Lemon Law? Do I get back the money I put down plus the payments I've made? If I'm put into a different car do I just pickup the loan where I am already at?

Lemon laws vary by state. Easy to find with google.

Another minor update: Car is running but they are doing tests with Subaru on the phone to make sure it doesn't come back. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
