Eh... definitely not as good as stock, but they are good enough to be daily driven. Talk about a bitch to adjust though, holy hell...

Man you were not kidding about being a bitch to adjust, haha. Took me like... 3 days to get them finally sorted. I ended up replacing the washer supplied with a lock washer that solved a lot of the issues I was having. Going to call APR and file a complaint for that, there's really no reason to not include a lock washer for that silver piece. I'm well on my way to following your weight reduction plan

They're so tiny!

Did you measure the wet CF parts compared to stock? Any weight loss there? I have heard the hoods can weigh as much or more than stock because of how well design the AL hood is.

Another thing! ... and I was just telling this to a guy on Facebook today who just installed his... you should consider PlastiDipping the black nut on the outside because that thing will rust like crazy. Took mine about a month to look like straight concentrated awful. I'm also considering emailing APR. I'm out of town so I can't take a picture to show you how rusty mine are, but just assume yours are going to completely rust up. PlastiDip would totally prevent all the heartache. That being said, it should just not rust. It's an external part.

I don't have a scale, so I wasn't able to weigh them. Sorry sir! I know the hood seems to be just a tad lighter, though. I have the Grimmspeed hood struts on, and they worked perfect with the stock hood, but send the CF one flying pretty good if I don't hold it back. Fenders seems a tad lighter too, but I'm sure it's not by much there's practically nothing there for both parts. I had to buy replacements from when I wrecked, and these ended up being cheaper for me than OEM replacement (as I didn't paint the carbon, whereas I'd have to get the OEMs painted) so that's the main reason I got them, not weight. Trunk is where you're going to gain the most weight savings if you go carbon fiber, IMO. That thing is heavy as shit.

Thanks for the heads up! The metal in general seems really, really soft (which is understandable, for weight savings), and I scuffed up that black nut just tightening everything down so I was going to end up painting them anyway. I still have some Grimmspeed Cherry Blossom Red left I was considering, just because it would be silly, haha.

I'll be calling them tomorrow for sure now, I'll let you know what they say.

Yeah, if you could bring up the rust issue for me, that would be awesome. I can send them pictures if they want, but I'd be willing to bet they all do it.

Just got off the phone with APR and reported the difficulty with the install and how a $0.03 lock washer immediately resolved the problem. He said he'd heard a handful of people mention it, but no formal complaints so he made a note and will bring it to their R&D team.

I also mentioned the rusting cap, and he said the were aware of the issue and would provide replacements if they were rusting. That specific part is not being powder coated, and the coating they were applying instead was found to be insufficient and has been recently changed to make them more resistant to rust. Wonder if mine have the new coating or not? But he did say that anyone with the issue should definitely call and they will send replacements.

Hell yeah. Thank you, sir! I'd much rather replace it than PlastiDip it. A year ago, I didn't even know who APR was. Now I have two of their products installed on my car, and I like them a lot. They seem really high quality, other than that one little nut.

APR has a bit of pedigree under their belt. They're very, very good at what they do and have always had (in my experience, anyway) excellent customer service. They're sometimes a bit pricey, but you know you get a quality product.
