You should try the RCE yellows.

I did, definitely did not ride better than stock. Not terrible by any means but im always confused by these posts saying they're more comfortable than stock. Physically you are almost doubling the spring rates, plus the loss in suspension travel makes this an impossibility.

Maybe they used a shock "butt" dyno, we all know how accurate butt dyno's are.

I did not say more comfortable. I said nicer. Nicer to me is a firm controlled stance on the road, highway and through the corners. Comfortable, to me, is Cadillac or Lexus ride.

The RCE yellows do almost double the spring rate of the front of the FR-S but the increase in spring rate on the rear is much smaller. The change is a nice firm ride that is not harsh at all and more balanced which is much more neutral than the stock FR-S. Under braking the front dive is much less pronounced and the car feels much more stable. The same goes for transition over bumps during cornering. With the RCE yellows the FR-S never hit the front bump stops which did happen sometimes with the stock front springs when we drove. All this translate to me (and my son) as a "nicer" ride.

Our experience was that the change to these spring did not significantly impact the comfort level on the car but did increase the stability and feel of the car when being driven sportingly making for a much nicer, faster and confidence inspiring drive on twisty country roads.

Nicer ride to me doesn't mean firmer ride. Tighter handling, less body roll, sure, but ride quality? No and i think most people would agree. Can't have better ride quality by doubling spring rates and staying with stock dampers. No free lunch here!

A lot depends on your local roads too. Around here, broken interstate pavement, and dips on the interstate going 75mph means your butt is going to launched out of your seat on a daily basis on stiffer springs.

Fair enough. We like different things in a performance car. Getting back on topic, I just do not see the 2019 TRD as offering enough value to make any current FT86 owner want to upgrade(?) to it.

Yeah but you could say the same about any other later model twin. Personally i dig the stripes but i wouldn't pay 30K for it lol. We'll see how resale is affected once (if) these cars' production is stopped.

Yeah I just bought mine a couple weeks ago still haven’t seen one yet. And the dealership I got mine from just got 4 more they don’t seem to be selling fast.

Is TRD short for tard or turd? If tard, that is offensive and if turd then that's funny.

It doesn't matter how cool a TRD version is, it probably appears as the "tard" or "turd" to 99% of the population who sees it plastered on a Toyota.
I'd say more turd than tard though like Quention there above said. It's like having a Fiat FRT(Fiat Racing Team) version or Nissan NRD(Nissan Racing Development), it just wasn't thought through.
