CANBus

As a cyber security guy, I am always on the lookout for cool gadgets that interface with strange protocols. This one might be of particular use to you guys.

Read(or emulate) raw CAN data from your car into an arduino driven platform. This could be a very powerful device.

Hmm odd given some of the data transmitted on the CAN bus cannot be used / deciphered to make it useable and if you disable or screw up the CAN the car won't run.

It is interesting, but I'm not sure what it gets us over these https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9555 (and https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10039) other than being wireless. Also, doesn't the tactrix let you do CANbus stuff??

I currently have the first one of those and it can do CANbus stuff. I have it reading CAN Oil Temp right now.

K I read some more.

It gives you 3 CANBus nodes in one package. So you can have a little more control over listening and posting stuff to the bus.

You'd still have to do the sniffing, which is the time consuming part.
