Hi, everyone.

Thanks for all your help getting me back onto the forum. It is appreciated. Hope you are all enjoying the armrests. Please no armrest business conducted here. I wish that they had gone with black screws also. I wonder if we could find some black caps to fit?

A couple of members asked me to repost some observations when installing the armrest. Here are the Toyota instructions:

http://www.toyota-tech.eu/aimuploads..._002_827_0.pdf

Here are some observations: use the template but drill with a very small drill bit because you will probably be off a little (no need to start right off with the 5mm bit). You can use 13/64" for the 5mm and and 5/16" for the 8mm. I drilled the passenger side first because that is where the tabs fit into the center console. The holes to be drilled on that side are in a straight line so you can tell if you are off. You can put the armrest on its side and line up the tabs and holes to get a good idea how things are going. After the 8mm holes (and remember two holes stay at 5mm)are drilled on that side, put the armrest in and see how it fits. When you are happy with the fit use an awl or sharp nail to mark where all the other holes are to be drilled. I drilled both a 5mm and 8mm hole into a thin piece of metal that I had and held that over the scratch marks so the drill bit didn't walk. If you drilling is off a little remember that all the holes are hidden by the foundation. If the 5mm holes are off a little use a guide to help drill the 8mm holes. You don't want to make those holes too big or the rubber torx thing won't have any place to grab. There are two holes which are a little ackward to get to (marked with arrows). I didn't need to remove the upper piece as I used a thin torx driver and put a piece of tape along the edge of the lid to prevent marking. When tightening the torx bolts do not put any tension on the plastic foundation or the top might not close properly. Also, the color matches much better than the photo indicates.

Also, contrary to an earlier post I actually keep my BRZ very clean. Because it is my DD I have no qualms about taking my Golder Retriever along with me.

couldn't you in theory 3M tape the whole thing down so as to not drill into the car?

I guess you could but it wouldn't sit as flush. I can't think of any reason I would ever take it out.

Buy it, and get it installed by a dealer (at least give it a shot). Its a Toyota part after all.

Looks great. Do you have any pics/comments on how the latch works?
I also see what appears to be a slot for ipod wires etc.

cheers

The latch is a little button... push it in and lift the armrest.

Yes that is a slot for cables.

And glad to see you're back on the forum, they should never have banned you just for trying to help out some fellow members!
