Dyno results : 2017 BRZ with bolt-ons & tune

Interesting results from my dyno session with the 2017 car. Largely the same as my 2013 FRS, but with some differences. Primarily, the 2013 FRS made less power stock, while the 2017 BRZ made more power stock. However, peak power was nearly identical between both cars. I was hoping the 2017's would gain more overall, but it looks like they are pretty efficient from the factory compared to the old cars and end up almost the same when you have similar upgrades.

2017 peak power, 91oct street tune: 182hp/147tq @ the wheels (altitude corrected).

Details in the video.

I thought people were getting 190-ish with bolt-ons + tune. Is this tuned for 92 or 93 gas?

He said it's 91 octane. That can attribute a lot to it. I've seen close to 200 whp with straight bolt ons and tune but they were running 93 or E85.

Yea, 91 is the best we have here. I will be getting a 100 octane tune at some point, so we'll see what that does.

There are so many factors that go into the dyno numbers. This is also on a mustang dyno which a lot of people will say reads low. I do this primarily to see the difference (gains) between the stock dyno, not necessarily peak power numbers.

Being a mile up from sea level is a factor too.

Yes. Don't look at the uncorrected numbers unless you want to be really depressed

The engines are internally the same, and the intake manifold doesn't make much difference from what I've seen. The bulk of the increase stock vs stock is the exhaust manifold and much better stock tune.

If he had a custom tune done, why would he use an OTS? Unless you mean 'has he ever tried an ots tune'?

Right, this was a custom tune, which usually starts as an OTS tune and then modified.

I did have an OpenFlash OTS tune on this car early on, but that was just to begin. Also, my FRS ran on an OpenFlash OTS tune before we dyno tuned it.

Ahh, this one was all remote e-tuned tuned with ECUtek.

My FRS we dyno tuned with OpenFlash/Romraider.
