cars.com is a advertisement program, dealers have to paid to list their cars for sale. BRZ and FRS sales are poor compared to other car models (you can look up the number on google), it is waste of space and resource to have them in the lot especially for places that snows. I think the 86 never achieved to their expected sale number.

I don't understand what the drama is about. If you go into a dealership and say you want a BRZ with an automatic, and the nearest one is 100 miles away, the salesman will get on his computer and his phone and find out what it will take to get that car for you. When I bought mine, the guy got on the computer and looked all around the region to tell me what was available out there, including colors and trim packages. I ended up ordering mine and waiting for delivery, but if I had been desperate to get a BRZ sooner, I could have had it.

You may have to pay a transfer fee for the cost of getting it to your local dealership. You may not, depending on how bad they want to sell you a car. Dealers trade cars back and forth all the time. Right now would be a good time to go in and ask, since Thursday is the end of the month, and the salesmen may be getting a little anxious about meeting their monthly numbers.

If you need to test drive it, just go down to Delaware or wherever you find one and drive it. 100 miles is nothing if it's something you really want. I just drove 500 miles round trip (twice) to buy a truck. If you just sit at home wishing for it, it may never happen.

Pretty sure majority are buying new. Makes no sense to get a used on when you can throw a couple grand more and get a new one. Unless you want a 13' to build a race car or some shit lol.

Dealers are just starting to get 2016s in. Selection will always be limited during model year transitions.

I guess inside USA things are a bit different

I can't drive shift on LHD cars. Still confuses the hell out of me after driving in the uk for almost 20 years. But as soon as I drove my first automatic here I said I'd never drive another manual. The AT BRZ is huge fun, and that without even trying the paddles yet.

After a few weeks of research on the forums (especially this thread http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6485) I willingly ordered a 2016 Automatic.

I've only driven automatic and don't feel any particular need to switch considering how close the performance is between the two.

The auto is over a second slower to 60, as well as you lose some of the driver engagement and fun by not having a manual, which is the whole reason this car exists. But autos are fine if you don't know how, or aren't willing/able to drive a stick.

I'm coming from an automatic 95 Accord EX, I'm sure the BRZ will be a significant upgrade over my current driving experience :P

I just got mine last week came from 8 years in an automatic civic. Never driving stick before, crash coursed for an hour before going to the dealership in my dad's MG. Drove stick for the second time at the dealership, didn't stall it (it's really not hard and the brz is way easier than a car from the 60s lol.) bought the car and drove home solo 45 miles home. Had to ebrake Hill launch when I got into town because I knew I wasn't fast enough to not roll back words into the dude 2in from my bumper. Accidentally triggered traction control. Had a fucking blast.

Seriously buy manual, watch YouTube vids, read up on it, and drive some low speed streets and just learn 0-25 mpg and back to Zero. Do that and you'll be set anything above 20mph is easy it's just first gear you have to learn.

Also the adrenaline of being scared shitless in traffic for stalling is a magnificent high!
