Stronger Clutch for Stock Flywheel
Hey all,
I'm looking for an upgraded clutch that mates to the stock flywheel. I don't want an aftermarket kit for many reasons. If you must know my reasons they are as follows: Many manufacturers make kits for our car that use a redesigned flywheel with clutches that only work on their flywheel. They do this because it ties you into their brand for replacements, and the flywheels are ridiculously cheap to manufacture. They save a ton of costs here using parts bin pressure plate parts retrofitted to flywheel blanks manufactured to their specs. Basically you end up with a hodge-podge of parts that "work." This is not to say that hundreds of hours aren't spent engineering the kits, but as we all know engineering doesn't always work out in application. I have this on good authority. It is your prerogative to believe me or not, but I don't want to have a conversation about that in this thread. Disclaimer: it is only an opinion that this is the primary reason so many people have after market clutch disengagement issues. From all my searches, I have only found the STI and TRD clutches. Am I wrong? Are there others? Opinions and reviews of your clutch kit that mates to the stock flywheel are welcome. There are plenty reviews of other kits that include flywheels, those reviews are not needed in this thread. |

I am sure any clutch compatible with a dual mass flywheel that the frs has will, however the flywheel will still have to be resurfaced by a machine shop, its a little more complicated than resurfacing a brake rotor. Not sure what that would cost

Dual mass flywheels are internally sprung, and generally use solid clutch discs. Our discs are sprung. If it's a dual mass, I've never seen one that looks anything like ours do. EG: Audi Dual mass VW dual mass Last edited by Hyper4mance2k; 02-10-2016 at 11:12 PM. |

can you link me to TRD clutch (part # please)? Also, for small clarifications, the TRD clutch is plug and play with our flywheel and tranny right?

You're welcome to drop by and feel the clutch for yourself on the shop car, before making a decision. |

The EXEDY 15806 (stage 1) and 15955 (stage 2) are designed for the OEM flywheel. You can bet the TRD clutch is made by EXEDY as well. You can almost make out the EXEDY logo on the TRD discs. |
