Just got back my first UOA from Blackstone.

Oil history:
Factory oil (Miles on oil: 2,363)
Subaru (Idemitsu) oil (Miles on oil: 5,108)
Subaru (Idemitsu) oil (Miles on oil: 2,652 -- Decided to switch to Amsoil)
Amsoil Signature Series 0w20 (Miles on oil: 9,514; changed filter at ~5500 miles)
Amsoil Signature Series 0w20 (Currently in car)

All oil filters have been the Subaru black filter.

Thinking about running the current oil for 12.5k miles and having another UOA done to see if I can extend it further.

Looks great! I think I would want to see 2 or 3 consecutive good runs on the same interval before extending beyond the manufacturers recommendation. The calcium is very high though on Amsoil SS, so 12k miles shouldn't be a problem. Iron will increase with more miles on the oil.

What air filter are you running? If you want to save some money, use Amsoil's Oil Analyzer's Inc. Cheaper than Blackstone, plus you get TBN, oxidation, and nitration at no additional charge. You can also purchase an oil sample pump and sample the oil without draining it.

Multiple Extended Oil Change Alanysis last one at 16k miles

I posted this in a new topic I am still new to the forums.... thought it might get read more here.

I wanted to share my reports as well even though it wasn’t from this car (my new FR-S).

I am a firm believer that synthetic oil is used and often drained way way before it should be. This would help save precious resources and more importantly get more use $$$ from our costly synthetic oils. I am not a hippy or tree huger I'm just an engineer that likes to push boundaries and I like saving $$$ when you can. The further I pushed the change intervals the more excited I got to see the results. Which I believe are quite impressive.

This analysis is from the current life of my daily commuter a 2009 Smart Fortwo Passion. Yes a smart car lol not quite our sports cars but it works nicely as a commuter and if anything the 1.0 3 cylinder engine gets a daily beating more than my FR-S does even when driven hard.

The report has every oil change I’ve done on it since it was new. This car is driven 70 miles a day back and forth to the office in midtown Atlanta traffic and at 85mph speed when cruising. I have also taken multiple road trips back home to Chicago as well this car has seen some rough highway use.

· The first is the factory fill removed at 5,800
· The second is Mobil 1 at the recommended 10k
· Third is Pennzoil Ultra at 12,300
· Fourth at 14,101 with Mobil 1 again
· Finally the fifth is with Amsoil at 16,065

My next oil change will be done at 18K (I’m about 8k from that now) this time I went back to Mobil 1 (tired of ordering Amsoil through the website)

All of these were done with a Gold Purolator PureOne filter and 0w40 or 5w40(amsoil) weight oil. No synthetic oil filters used either I think those are a rip off as my $5 on sale PureOne proves in the extended oil changes.

For kicks Wal-Mart Supertech in a 530i with 160K on the motor

I wish I could dig up the report that showed 12k use on the Super-Tech oil this one is only for 7500 but still shows its a pretty decent oil. I use it in my lawn tractor and other small engines I care "less" about if you will. I had to add two quarts due to some work I did on the oil filter housing in between the change.

Changed oil from factory fill exactly at 1000 miles to amsoil signature 0w20 with an amsoil filter. Was swapping from my borla UEL to Vishnu's OFH the other day and decided it was a good time to put in my fumoto and change the oil.

I am running Perrin's foam drop in filter. It's been cleaned and re-oiled twice, the most recent time was about a month before the oil in the report was drained.

I'll look into Amsoil's oil analysis, thanks!

If your silicon doesn't drop down into the teens within the next two uoa's, it could be the filter.

In my Forester, my silicon dropped to the single digits (from the teens) after I switched from the stock filter to an Amsoil Ea drop in filter.

Insolubles are amazing. What oil filter are you running?

I have been using the OEM filter. 15208AA130

Here is my first UOA for this car. This is DD with 2 autox and 2 extended canyon runs with much time spent in high RPM (about 400 miles between the two). This is running the OEM filter

Like I said it's my first ever UOA, can someone explain magnesium levels? Mine is way higher than average but they don't mention anything about it.

Here is my 2nd UOA. I only went about 3300 miles on this oil because I wanted to get into 5000 mile increments between changes.

Check out http://www.blackstone-labs.com/report-explanation.php for details on what everything means. Click Gas/Diesel report and you can mouse-over different lines on the sample report to get more info. Or go here and not bother with mouse-overs: http://www.blackstone-labs.com/Data/...20elements.pdf

Magnesium in oil is a detergent or dispersant additive. More info here - http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...&Number=258648

First oil change as part of the Scion Service Boost.

Mostly less than 4 miles (one way), 80% / 20% hwy/streets to and from work, with 20+ miles hanging out with friends over the weekend.

I was worried that my oil wasn't getting up to temp (it would only be around 170-180 by the time I park at work) and the that the short driving distance was eating up the additives. After comparing my results with other results posted, I have confirmed my suspicions, but it is no way near as serious as I thought it was (I have a lower tbn than others at the same mileage interval, a little lower moly and other readings). But, like the Blackstone notes say, no big deal, run it for longer! That Subaru / Toyota synthetic is great stuff, especially the factory fill.

wow I fell behind on this! Thanks everyone for posting, I put new links to the main page for each UOA. I just did my 7th oil change with 11,600 miles on the subie oil and filter. We'll see how that went in a few weeks!

Here's my first UOA performed at 20,000 miles with a 5,000 mile OCI of Mazda 0w20 with Moly. In addition to daily city commute driving, it also includes 80 autox runs and (4) 20 minute track sessions. I ran e85 fuel half of the time and all driving was done in a hot, dusty desert environment.

20,000 miles seems to be a little high to still have residual silicon from the engine manufacturing process. What air filter are you using and how many oil changes have you done? The desert probably isn't helping the silicon.
