I realize that OEM tooling is out of reach for the majority of aftermarket, so FRP can't be expected to be anything of high quality. Even shops who I've spoke to who do FRP body panel installs regularly are honest about the cutting, molding, fitting, drilling issues that arise. I also realize cost is a factor.

My opinion of course. Always welcome to disregard it.
It's more about the tooling, than the material. Cheap moulds create bad parts, be they FRP or pre-preg carbon fibre.

Todoroki Front Fenders

@Gunman.. Totally agree, except that if there is a serious problem with CF it can't just be filled, sanded and painted. Fiberglass introduces laziness because it is clear that it can be infinitely repaired and painted.

The Shops youve dealt with have never gotten GOOD FRP products I assure you, companys like TRD, Mugen, Nismo all produce FRP aftermarket items with SUPER High Quality results. As good or better then the OEM parts that came with the car. So don't raise your nose to parts made with FG.

Your basing your opinion on hearsay...based on something coming from a completely different manufacturer. How does that make sense...if you're interested in a wider fender ask an owner of these fenders about them, inquire with a vendor who sells them or the actual manufacturer. Basing your opinion on all fiberglass on some stuff people at a body shop get in from people isnt comparing apples to apples.

I'm basing my opinion on the disclaimers (e.g. cutting, drilling, filling, sanding and fitting is normal/expected for aftermarket FRP parts and professional installation is HIGHLY recommended) and BS that comes from most manufacturers of these kinds of parts. When things go bad, you are left hanging and out to dry. I've been following this trend for 15+ years. I've spoken to many body shops, tuner shops and car enthusiasts up and down the west coast. Always see and hear the same story. Most buyers/end-users don't know because their body shop will typically handle the prep of these parts. I'm not saying that every single FRP part on planet earth is junk. I'm just saying to be weary of whomever you deal with and be prepared for headaches. Nothing I've seen fits like OEM.

Like I said, there are FRP parts that fit like OEM parts, but you gotta pay to play. If you want something that fits like OEM expect to pay OEM plus some for it. Like the TRD lip kit not the TRD style kit...but the actual TRD parts FIT the car...you may have to drill hole to mount the parts...but theyre not meant to come off. They wont need masaging/sanding to fit either. I've been in the import scene for about 13 years now...and Ive seen what youre talking about...stuff from VIS, Seibon, etc is honestly CRAP...but Ive also seen HIGH quality parts from Mugen, Nismo, TRD etc...that is amazing, like the Mugen S2000 Hardtop, bumpers, lips, wheels anything are all higher then OEM quality...their CFRP parts are really to die for...dry CF hoods, wings misc engine parts like intake....rediculous work. Dont assume every FG part is crap is all Im saying. You're just spreading misinformation.

Thank you for helping me see that I spread misinformation. I feel better now that the error of my ways has been exposed among the great and powerful that skim the Internet. I'm glad we can see eye-to-eye now. Good day lad..
