I can't say since I'm only like 1.5-2k into these but I only got a little over 8k out of my MPSS. These still look like brand new so I know they'll go much longer than the 8k for sure.

I'm going to seriously consider the Firehawks, the fact that you said you get superior performance and they are a fraction of the price is really interesting.

How is the wet performance?

When I bought my tires, I considered price, what I had heard from others at car meets and this Consumer Reports round up. My first choice was the BFG Sport Comp 2, but there is very little stock in my size nationwide. I had gone to BJ's and ordered them- they had a great deal- but they tried to sell me 3 year old tires- no way.

I ended up with MPSS only a couple months old. MPSS is rated to be the #1 tire in the Ultra Perf Summer tire category by CR and pretty much everywhere else- look at reviews and talk to people. The only down side is price, but when I couldn't get the best tire for the buck (Comp 2), I decided to just get the best tire (MPSS). Firestone Indy 500's were further down the list near where the Comp 2's were at. Not on the top recommended list.

Here are the other CR Recommended tires. Remember one thing though- tire naming is tricky. When you go to get your tires, make sure you get the EXACT same model

If you really have some goals in mind of looks/handling, the first step is to get the basic power mods you want, and doing the suspension/wheels later on at the same time.

I know you said you are a noob but you should really research wheel fitment, alignment, and wheel to strut clearance first before just saying "I want XYZ wheels with ABC suspension". Things like alignment and tire/fender clearance matter.

So not stock exhaust. And FI. When did the wider wheels and tires come around relative to the FI? Iirc, you were running e85 fuel and a header(and an aftermarket catback) before you got off the stock tires?

On paper no but in reality for me, yes. Having driven on them back to back I can say that the Firestone was superior in every way. Wet, dry quietness, and it appears the longevity, Firestone all day long.
I'm not going to argue with a few people over the internet over which tire is better since going from a stock 215 to anything 255 will be an improvement in traction and without experiencing both tires in
the same size, he'll be happy with either new tire. I don't track my car but in daily driving, I spun out 3 times on the Michelins when pushing them to their limit and would constantly slide around like
they were wet when it was dry out. The Firestones just stick unless I floor it and jerk the steering wheel in a tight turn and even then, they seem to have better control in a slide. Maybe if the Michelins are
thoroughly heated up they perform better in racing but on the street they sucked balls. If the prices were switched on those two tires and the Firestones were $400 more, I would still buy the Firestones.
Maybe I got suckered and had a older set of the Michelins(didn't happen to see the manufacturer date) but I am 100% sure that the Firestone has better traction than that Michelin.
