I wonder if this is a factor in the widely varying acceleration numbers reported by the media?

In addition to IAM you also have to warm the car up before VVT is enabled. I would guess that VVT would be a larger factor that advance. I’m not sure what the threshold temperature is before VVT is enabled. This may not even be an issue at an autox unless your car rests for a long time between groups or something. It would be interesting to see some data logs from an autox.

I'm glad you made this thread but I still don't have answers either. I'm on OFT newest tune and I always put in 93 octane. It seems to go up with more aggressive driving as opposed to cruising. It seems to go up quicker on warmer days as opposed to driving in the morning when its colder. A lot of times it doesn't go up all the way to 1, it can be .88, .94, .96 ect.

It probably make sense that it doesn't go up if you don't drive agressively. To go up, I think it must detect that no knock is present during conditions where knocking is most likely to occur, which is at 100% load / high rpm I suppose. If you just cruise around, the ECU can't confirm that there is no knock in high load conditions, therefore it stays on the safe side.

But when I go to hit the gas and use da POWA I'm only at .7 IAM which means I'm not getting maximum power when I want it. And of course the main point of this thread is at track days everytime I turn off the car I have to start all over again.

I wish it would just start where you left off. If I turn off the car at .88 then it should start there at least.

The only way to have initial from the start is to manually set it at .9 or something in the tune

If you change your IAM to 1.0 and it detects knock it will drop down and then when you restart the car it will resume at the lower value. So really if you always run 93 then you should just change the IAM to 1.0 and call it a day. If you get some bad gas it will drop and stay down until you get new gas. I've actually had a bad batch before where my IAM dropped to .45 or so.

I bought a Techstream cable and installed the software. Anyone know where I need to go to see the IAM value? Is it called something else in the software?

You need RomRaider and the correct definitions. When I get to the office tomorrow I will write up more detailed instructions.

What CALID did you flash to your car?

I didn't flash anything, and don't really want to. I just want to read the value. In a previous post you said Techstream was able to read any value including the IAM.
