0 issues, except more rapid clutch and tire wear from the additional power. No fuel filter issues, no injector issues, nothing. We had one customer with clogged DIs come in last month. What did he run? Crappy pump gas. Never seen any alcohol. I keep seeing the one article/web site quoted over and over again with those ugly pictures, but in reality it is just an opinion and has absolutely no empirical basis.

The only possible draw back I can imagine on ethanol is wear on the DI pump. But this is one reason ethanol still has 15% gas in it--for lubrication. However we won't know the true failure rates for probably a few more years. But even then, I highly doubt we will see anything. Mazdaspeed folks have been running e85 for years and they run mechanical DI pumps as well. Those are much more finicky, and they are not impacted by ethanol.
Good straigh up no nonsense fact based answer thanks @moto-mike

Respectfully, this is not true. I came from the Mazdaspeed world and those cars are very susceptible to fuel pump issues when running high ethanol mixes.

These problems, such as sticking spill valve and oily build-up in the pump, are very well documented and discussed in threads such as these:

http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/foru...icking-107141/

http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/foru...-issues-79030/

I'm not for a second suggesting that our cars are prone to similar issues, I'm just pointing out what I believe is a factual error in your post.

@DeliciousTuning has been running their BRZ on e85 for a long time with no issues. I have been running e85 for upwards of 15-20k with no issues. Crickets are gone as well. Maybe I should make a video to show that they are gone.

Your car will be totaled if you use e85 IN 5YRS time. Ask a Japanese car specialist.stay away on high ethanol fuel.

Any evidence to support that outrageous claim?

Either your trolling or someone has given you incorrect information.

20years plus ago ethanol in fuels was a problem.

200.000 Km on my VW R32 with E85 without problem. pull the injector last month and they were as clean as new. All that BS around E85 can't believe some still spread it around!!!

20.000 km on my GT86 with E85 also no problem.

I'm thinking of doing e85 except I would only be doing it once every 5 fill ups since the closest place to get it is an hour away

Switching back and forth would be a pain unless you have true flex fuel

I have been on flex e85 / ecutek / drift office tune / maps for a month. I haven't run a single tank of 92 since I converted. I am planning on running a tank or mix every once in awhile but am still so hooked on the way the car runs now. I haven't had - nor do I anticipate any issues. E85 is the same price as Chevron 92 although I burn it faster.
