Squeaky Chair

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMbA9mYm3_s"]Squeaky FR-S Chair - YouTube[/ame]

First off, sorry for the shakiness, portrait orientation, etc. I was holding the phone with one hand and trying to drive.

Anyway, anybody else having issues with the driver chair squeaking? The dealer thought it was some sort of clip and lubricated it, but that didn't work. Do you guys have any other suggestions?

It seems to be coming from the cushion area that I sit on (i.e., not the backrest) and it squeaks whenever I drive over bumps.

Crappy. Unfortunately this whole car is squeaky and full of rattles. I thought my Gen Coupe's dash rattle was bad and when I got my BRZ I just remember thinking, "I'm so glad I'm getting a solid built car." Turns out this car rattles and squeaks more than my Hyundai.

I've learned to just turn the music up and ignore it.

I get it too.. It's not too bad.. But it's there.. My exhaust helps lessen the seat noise..

Well, I'd suggest you take a spray can of silicone with a long snout and go squeak hunting.

A mirror and light may help to spot potential areas where squeaks hide.

Good hunting!

I have it as well, but cannot replicate it reliably at all. This makes hunting for it hard.

Try: The seat rail, the tilt joint.

Funny, I dont notice any squeaks or rattles at all and I have 15k miles.

Maybe the first 20 production cars in the US had the "no squeak package" installed

I have that problem. Is it coming from the seat belt release button area?

Me neither.

No rattles or squeaks whatsoever in my 2013 BRZ.

I had this issue before, its when your chair base rocks back and forth, huh? WD40 your seat rails and it'll go away.

Not really. It's more of the area right underneath where I sit. Kinda hard to describe...

I wouldn't necessarily describe as my "chair base [rocking] back and forth". The chair base is quite secure and doesn't move too much. But I'll try greasing up the seat rails and see how it works out.

No the base isn't exactly loose, but the noise is coming from the rail area. I had the squeak when I rocked back and forth in a certain way or when I braked kind of hard. Hope my soln works out for you.

I just started noticing this too, and I couldn't exactly pin point where the sound was coming from, but it sounds just like that, going over bigger bumps. At first I thought it was the steering column, or the center console, but it does sound lower, I'll have to grab a can of wd and see if I can hunt it down, please post if you're able to kill it off and how.

I have a similar problem. For me it's the backrest. There is a slight play in my backrest and it squeaks back and forth I took it to the dealership and after about an hour the guy comes back sayin "sit in a brand new one and see if you can replicate it".

Surely enough the backrest on a brand new brz also had the exact same problem minus the squeak... I'm just gonna buy recaro seats in the future anyways but this rly pisses me off everytime I drive the car.

It's what makes a Subaru a Subaru.
