question

assuming you did a proper warmup each time, but never really pushed the engine the way they do in F1, would it actually last a long time?

Hard to say how much longer, but yeah, longer.
Our show engines have detuned maps to make burn-outs and low-speed/hi-rev manoeuvres safer. You lose a bunch of HP but the engine lasts longer.

FYI, you can't start a cold F1 engine (our engines, anyway). We circulate hot coolant and oil in them before cranking themp up.

Renault, can you tell us what's up with all the problems? I hear some of the cells in the battery are shorting, as well packaging on RB10 does not allow enough cooling...

Yeah that's pretty much it to be honest. You'll understand I won't go in too many technical details…

Well I am not part of the track staff, so it's not my job to go on every race (I am a stress engineer). But the company does organize 2 trips per year to different races for the employees. I went to Montreal in 2013, for instance. And if we decide to go to a GP on our own, the tickets are reimbursed, which is always nice.

@Anthonytpt, you do realize that Renault (its daughter company Renault Sport F1) are totally separate from Peugeot, right?

Peugeot and Citroën together are known as PSA, and they are in a shitty shape right now (like, worse than the other European manufacturers), GM even pulled out of an almost-done deal with them.

Anyway, I am afraid we, at RSF1, are more in need of technical experts (I do have an american colleague, though).

@Guillaume: Oops, I meant to write Renault. I was simultaneously reading a Pike's Peak hill climb thread on the side. :P
