Just replace the word Province for State since we have the same basic set up as the US. This means we also have similar discrepancies as you would see there. Some of the laws and regulations are radically different between each Province.

Sales tax is a good example

Interesting. I can't say if it was like that or not in NYC. The only accident I ever had driving there was my fault. For sketchy reasons, we just took the other guy's car to Willets Point and had a chop shop take off the bumper, pop the dent, paint it, and put it back on in about 30 minutes.

Took the day off. I think I'll make some chicken and a margarita.

The drywall guys should be here soon. The new master bath is coming along well. My wife picked out all the new interior doors and hardware, the new hardwood flooring, and bathroom tile. This weekend we will pick out the new kitchen appliances. My bank account is taking a major beating.

If there is any chicken left I can be there by 9.

A quick search shows that in California the total tax burden for somebody earning $100K a year is about 36%

Couldn't find a nice calculator for Ontario but the total burden here is said to be 42%.

Come on over. I'm mixing up a batch of spice mix now. Yep, there really are 11. Actually 12 including salt.

Well, my property tax is $9,000/yr, gas tax just went up $.15/gal, going up another $.20 this year to pay for moonbeam's train to nowhere. Sales tax is 10%. Etc. Etc... 36% is about right for total state and fed income tax.

Ahhhh....... but think, those expenses will add value, at least 2x fold, when it comes to resale. Plus, you (your wife especially) will have the pleasure of living in an updated home till then ..........

Now, do you feel better ....??

Hah, I wish it was that low. In Belgium it's 54% (excluding other taxes), realistic it's about 60 a 65% . They even put a tax on a tax because they (government) screwed some (almost all) things up.
They fuck up, we pay their bill.

I'm sure it will be worth it. I just need to bitch. I don't think the guys who built these little homes in 1959 thought they would still be around now. They are so poorly built. Every time you open a wall there are all sorts of expensive surprises.
