Warranty after doing repairs and service work at non dealership mechanics

Hello guys, I would like to know if you can still get warranty after doing repairs and servicing from non dealership mechanics. I am hearing a different opinions about this, can you guys help clear it up?
Thanks.

Yes of course you can. Would be silly if you can only get work done at dealer or lose your warranty.

Unless your OWN insurance covers it or the dealer specifically sends your car out for something they can't do/fix.

If your mechanic moves stuff around, then your car breaks down, the dealer has a right to deny any claims still under warranty. That's the problem.

Should you decide to alter or fix something still under warranty, please make sure it is done professionally and don't leave signs.

This info is from Salinas Toyota Dealer. I asked the same when I had weird sounds on my clutch.

I went off on the track on saturday, and started hearing a humming noise coming from the right front wheel. I dont really trust dealerships and they basically said when I brought the car, anything that physically moves is not covered under warrranty. So We (me and my mechanic) suspect I might have damaged a wheel bearing. So I am getting it checked out tomorrow and hopefully replaced it with a genuine subaru part. I just dont want to deal with arguing with the dealership and such, thus I opted to just repair it with my mechanic. But my family members are saying that I will lose my warranty if i do so.

They'll likely deny warranty on anything related to the wheel bearing you replaced, but they can't void warranty on anything else (provided you didn't damage anything while doing the repair).

Cat-back they can't void anything. The header could be interesting depending on what you're trying to get warranty on. If the engine is damaged from a bad AFR they could argue it was caused by the header, and good luck proving otherwise.

All that said, they can't void warranties. They just deny coverage in specific cases.

The wheel bearing wouldn't have a warranty as it wasn't installed there, and your private mechanic would have his own warranty policy on the install for you. But your warranty on the rest of the car will not be void. But a lot of stuff like a wheel bearing etc that is wear and tear wouldn't be covered anyway, especially when its is clearly driver wear and tear ie. track wear....gotta pay to play

Replaced the bearing today, the noise is still there. Now they are guessing the knuckle might also be damaged. And thats just a educated guess, they said it might not even solve anything. Man this is bollocks, I just went off the pavement I didn't even actually hit anything solid... And my birthday is tomorrow too, FML Moral of the story is if you can rent a car at the track do it, making mistakes on your own car is way too costly.

I wouldn't quite say that, But always good to have some instruction if you haven't been out there before. Obviously stepping out onto the track you know what kind of risks you run. can happen even to experienced track drivers
