My dad just had the same surgery (bicuspic instead of tricuspid valve) + aortic artery replacement due to aortic aneurysm up to the arch (dilated to 5.8cm - jeesus). He chose to have a tissue valve (cow) over a mechanical one. He's pushing 80, but recovering faster than the doctor expected. He had the surgery about a month ago, still on the the blood thinner (coumadin instead of warfarin) and just got off the MG protein supplements.

From his experience so far, just rest a LOT, take it easy, hydrate all the time, and you'll recover just fine.

The doctor did warn us that some days you would be so tired you can't get of bed - my dad is starting to experience some of those days. Annoys the heck out of him because he's used to waking up at the crack of dawn and going out to buy the newspaper with his buddy.

Also, not sure what your doctor said, but our doctor said no driving for at least 6 months while the ribs heal up.

Wish you a speedy recovery! Hope you can stand not driving BRZ for months!

The rack I was referring to was my sexy man-boobs, because I'm overweight and under-exercised. There's no chance I'm ever going to get roided out, but thanks.

I plan to exercise and get in shape as soon as I'm able. I'm 5'11'' and close to 230. Fighting weight is 190.

I think Warfarin and Coumadin are the same thing, at least that 's what my prescriptions say.
