I've been readjusting to the winter rubber that came with the wheels I just threw on.
They're 225 section (versus 205 section on my other set) Surprisingly less grip in most situations, the car breaks lose far easier, and I can break traction first and second on wet tarmac. Many smiles and did not crash. |

Picked up my car today after getting the recall work done. Car drove good. Everything seemed to be ok. I think I could feel a difference... (Maybe it is just in my head...???)
Drove home; Did not crash!

I took it out of winter storage the other day and drove around with my 3 year old daughter yelling “go faster!” from the back car seat. She calls it my “zoom car.” I ran a few errands and got all the cobwebs out of the engine. We visited the Toyota dealership to check if my car needed the valve springs fixed due to the recent recall. It didn’t. Then she had Ice-cream while I checked out the new 2019 GT86 TRD version on the showroom.
Was a quart low of oil so I topped that off before heading out that day. I have Bridgestone S-04 Pole Position tires on that luckily did not crack from the crazy cold/bad winter we had. So, I drove my FR-S and did not crash... Docdoc Last edited by Docdoc; 03-10-2019 at 01:53 PM. |

Did not drive my FR-S today, yet...
Drove my car to work the other night...no issues. Came out to the parking lot the next morning and found a 1980s Ford Bronco parked up against the front end of my FR-S. Couldn't believe it. I almost exclusively park on the end of the aisles or up against a light post area to try and avoid door dings from other cars. I had parked along the end of the aisle this particular shift and was very surprised to find that the first ding in my FR-S was not from a door or a rock chip on the windshield, but from the front end of an old 30-40 year old rusting SUV.
Fortunately, my front bumper was not cracked, which was my initial thought upon walking up on this scene. Damage was minimal--small circular scrape of paint off the front of the bumper. If he had backed up and been parked a normal distance from my car, I would have driven off without ever seeing it and would probably have thought it was a road rock ding upon finding it during my next washing of the front end. |

What is wrong with some peoples kids, eh? I have had similar things happen to me a couple of times. The one time the guy was loading a big flat screen TV into his POS compact car and I politely pointed out that he'd hit my car with his when he parked. Well, this guy gets all "Are you talkin' to me?" tuff like and starts rolling up his sleeve and walking towards me. I laughed and said to him if he took another step I'd jump into my car, start it, put it into gear. Then I'd push his POS across to the next row right into the lamp post. I then jump into the car and started it. I could hear his wife yelling at him as she held her end of the huge TV box which was hanging out of the passenger side door. Drove from Long Island to The Philadelphia Convention Center and back today. Did not crash but I tanked up in NJ and noticed my fuel gauge did not register as filled. On the way home same thing, filled up again to see if it changed -no dice, gauge is going down as I drive but not move up to register when the tank is full.
I'm going to disconnect the battery to reset it before I blame the sender. https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86136 |

Try running the tank down to 1/2 or 3/4. I think that resets it without mucking around with other stuff.

You are 100% correct. I forgot to post yesterday that I disconnected the battery for a short while, reconnected and everything came back to normal. Speaking of doing something innocuous resulting in a weird glitch: This is a million times better than when I had a RX-7 and if you turned the car on then shut it down before warming up the engine would flood each and every time (quick solutions: get a push start or remove the spark plugs so the gasoline would evaporate or wait a long time) <- common issue, once you do it you are forever cognizant of it and never do it again (unless you like to brick your car). |
