I believe in this thread, there are different users talking about different things...

If you experience the "engine dying" "bogging/rattling", just try and maintain 1500RPM at 3rd - 6th gear to reproduce it. You'll feel the car struggling, and I believe this is quite normal for this car, it likes high revs that's for sure.

If you hear metal "clicking", it might be the metal piece on the shift knob or just the frame holding the nav/radio or even the volume knob. Try holding onto them when you hear it and see if it goes away.

If you hear the back of car is making this popping noise, fix it with some WD-40 @ the trunk area. Completely got rid of that sound in my car. See this thread.

That actually might be the trunk popping noise then, go spray some WD-40.

I already did that and the popping noise I had is gone

This noise is from outside the car

Ok guys brought my car in and I found out that the noise was coming from inside the wheel.

The place where I had my enkei rpf1 mounted did not properly tighten one of the nuts on the aluminum valve stems and the nut got loose and made noise inside the wheel

Took it out and place it back but couldn't fit 2 wrenches to tighten it it all the way..hopefully it doesn't get loose again or else I'll just switch to regular valve stems

Interesting. Ever since I got my tires changed I've been hearing a rattling noise, like a tin can rattle. How would you have described your rattle?

I got that yesterday and brought it in. They said it was engine knocking due to a MAF sensor. They ordered a part and are installing it tomorrow. I'll follow up after.

The sound is really weird, it's like a loose part rattling around on the drivers side but only when under load at low rpm.

For most, you're hearing the clutch rattle. I'm not sure what causes it but a quick search reveals almost every 6MT car has this at low RPM's and it goes away when you push the clutch in. I've noticed these engines are really shakey at 1700 - 1850 rpm as well.

For the very few others, it could be the shifter linkage, high pressure fuel pump, or loose undercarriage parts (exhaust etc etc). This is quite unlikely, but should still be considered.

Finally, it could be engine knock. There's about a 0.01% chance that's the case though and it would make that noise under load in every gear at low rpm. If you've heard a bad motor in the past, you'd know this in an instant.

Rattle at low RPM under load.

The mystery is solved. Injector seals from direct injection side disintegrated, burnt and or disappeared. I have video and images of the noise and a video explaining the air in the combustion chamber and voila pop crackle pop.

Replacement injectors may be more resistant.

Does anyone have a sound recording of this "jar of Marbles" sound? I get it after the car is warmed up, usually downshifting to second around 2k. But after I notice the sound lingers on acceleration in 1st and second even when I shift into neutral and roll to a stop.

Rattling in 2nd or 3rd at low rpms

https://drive.google.com/folder/d/0B...FKa0RDYkk/edit

It sounds different in the car but you get the idea.

My Frs makes a similar sound... notice it usually going up a slight incline prolly at 1.5-2k rpm. (To me) sounds like a clicking/grinding kind of noise either coming from the trans or diff? Idk i feel as though its normal at least for these cars.
