Now if there was a way to do that for a 2JZ ECU... (I'm getting greedy I know but I honestly couldn't decide between an LS engine and 2JZ engine)

But thank you for bringing this to market. I'll have to pick one of these up in the coming months so I am prepared no matter which direction I end up in going and it helps support the community(plus I need that push button start stuff working so the more preorders the better right :-) )

As far as I know, there were never any CAN bus equipped 2JZ vehicles from the factory. Just about every 2JZ implementation in a vehicle will use some sort of stand alone ECU. If your ECU of choice has CAN bus outputs and a well documented format, I could easily make a revised program that would handle the basic functions most people require. Don't even think about cruise or a properly functioning VDC.

Tach/PS/MIL/Coolant temp/current gear(maybe)?

Check.

My big thing is to pass a plug in emissions test and no lights on the dash, other than that I'm good lol

You could always hook up all the emissions devices, crank sensors, and oxygen sensors from a factory ECU that would use the pre-CAN communication protocol, have a standalone ECU *actually* controlling the engine, and just don't populate the OBD DLC with CAN lines and you'd pass most (stupid) plug in tests.

Who you would possibly be able to pay to do that, I don't know.

Oh and that's kind of illegal

Heck you'd be better served finding someone who would program a device that would live on the CAN bus and respond to the SAE PIDs for emissions monitors and have it just always report back everything is chill

...again, very illegal.

Not much you can really do with an engine that never had a factory CAN connection to report the proper values to the emissions tester. I can think of a million ways to potentially do it, and a million ways I'd get sued by the EPA.

I meaaaaan.

GM does pride itself in providing emissions compliant packages you can buy at a dealer. This kind of sells it for me.

Track whore/no emissions state, go for it. Its 2017 though, can't just blow off the tech side of vehicles anymore.

Sportsguy,,, a couple of questions. You mentioned a shop KAB that will be doing the work. Are they local??? As for the bits and pieces to mount the engine and trans,, is the plan to fabracate these or use someones kit?? What about headers and exhaust, radiator, AC compressor brackets, etc. etc. I know there's a thousand things have to be done, do you a general idea of the details you might share???

It's going to be a super hot rod!
