Do most of you STX folk run like 1/16"-1/8" rear toe in? I assume yes since that's standard issue RWD setup. I run at least -1/8" in my SM 240, but curious what the preferred street tire setup is.

I guess I'll start with -1/16" and see how it goes.
Zero toe all around. Also stock swaybars, but I think the spring rates I'm running are also not as common, so learning this before throwing more parts at it...

I haven't found the car tracks badly on road trips, but I think that's often why toe is added. Maybe it just doesn't bother me. I don't drive most weeks though.

So for wheels, the +45mm offset 17x9 should be fine right? I think I heard that you need a 5mm spacer in the rear with the +45mm's...Or go with the +35mm offset wheels and be good?

Also, brakes. I've heard you can swap rotors with a WRX rotor that is a pound or two lighter on each corner. Anyone have info on that or lightweight brake kits?

I believe the AP racing kit is legal for STX and is around 10lbs lighter a corner than stock. Not exactly cheap though.

It's legal. It also limits wheel choices (as do many BBK's, but perhaps not all quite so much) so be aware if you go shopping.

I don't think the rotors can be lighter than stock. The weight saving is in the calipers.

Ouch, not cheap indeed. ~40lbs is a lot of weight though....

How about the wheels? Specifically looking at the RPF1's of course, just want to get the right offset (+35mm or +45mm).

I would recommend et35. Those will fit the AP kit of you ever get there too. I'm running 35.

Check the list on the Essex site.

Front only for the weight savings. I'm sure you can find something for the back that's lighter, but not much.... And not nearly the upgrade either.

Strano front bar and stock rear is a good place to start for sure. Also I'm pretty sure E85 isn't legal for STX anymore.

Hey, I just got linked into this thread.

With the addition of a larger front sway bar what are you changing about how the car behaves?

Less oversteer (but more understeer). (Too much oversteer is slowing you down. On the other hand oversteer is usually an advantage in slow and tight turns. But then again if it's too stiff in the rear, the differential may struggle out of u-turn, especially if you are on race tires (not the case in STX).)

My experience is that the car understeers in a steady state corner, while squeezing throttle only enough to maintain speed. Ham fisted maneuvers will easily cause the car to transition into oversteer though. Do the quick transitions in an autox change that, or is it just not possible to be sufficiently smooth and fast for the stock setup?

The benefits of a larger front bar, that I can see, would be quicker turn in and possibly reducing wheel spin. Is the goal really just shifting the balance toward increased understeers? If that's the only goal, why not just do it with alignment and/or tires?

You really want to negative camber and a front sway bar. I don't think we will need anything in the rear.
Front sway and negative camber took out a most of the understeer for me, that you were describing Calum
