Lightbulb Introduction to this section... NO STREET RACING and NO TROLLING!

As the FR-S and BRZ come to market there will surely be many members cross-shopping/comparing them to its competitors. This area is to cover those discussions.

However, please note that STREET RACING stories/discussions will be STRICTLY PROHIBITED, as will be trolling from those whose only agenda here is to bash the FR-S/BRZ.

Comparison discussions often get heated and debating/disagreeing with each other is natural... as long as it's done in a respectful and mature manner.

Street racing isn't really popular in the uk apart from the standard 0-40 at the traffic lights

We prefer spirited runs in the countryside with like minded people

But your right we will have all sorts coming here shortly
Complaining about price ,colour ,rear seats ,headroom, lack of turbo,AWD,no bonnet scoop ,convertible ,where do the teenage kids sit ,boot space, and cup holder designs and of course how do I get 5 McDonald meals in the passenger seat with my girlfriend

If this forum doesn't allow street racing posts than so be it. The FT86 (BRZ/FR-S) was designed to be more of a track car anyways. It's a precision tool versus a brute force (believe me, the 500whp supercharged Charger SRT8 I'm parting with was a brute force). It's not a car that will dominate in stereotypical "street racing" (i.e. drag racing). I will however benchmark straight line performance at any given opportunity but I know these cars will shine once the road gets twisty.

It's because street racing is DANGEROUS. PERIOD. There's a dragstrip in nearly every town anyway, take it there to race! There's also autocross in every region and that's way more fun than street racing. And if that isn't enough to persuade you, you could KILL yourself and OTHER PEOPLE. Respect your life and others', and do it on the track, not the street. And, on top of all this, yes, it is illegal.

By the way, prepare for a flaming rant guys....

And I know they street race in Initial D, but they actually make sure that there's nobody around and they really do race, with turns and straights and dorifto and safety equipment. What "street racing" is here in the States, what I see on YouTube videos all the f***ing time, is this stupid "from a roll, three honk" thing. It's so f***ing retarded. You just start at 60, three honks and then just mash the gas pedal and see who pulls away first? Wait, WHAT? That isn't f***ing racing!! There's no set measurement! There's not even a f***ing finish line, or anything! You can't tell who really won like that! THAT ISN'T F***ING RACING. A dragstrip actually has a speed trap, a quarter mile, and YES – A F***ING FINISH LINE!! My god. Wake up and get some common sense, street "racers" – you're not racing. You're just speeding at ridiculous velocities side-by-side and endangering everyone around you. Just stop. Take it to the track.

Please don't ban me for that rant. I just had to. I don't care if you give me an infraction, or whatever – I said what needed to be said.

Couple reasons.

First and foremost, it is illegal, and if ft86club.com permits people to post their kill lists and describe illegal street racing, it can be perceived as encouraging the behavior, given that this is a car forum.

Off topic a bit, but it is also incredibly stupid to post an admission of dangerous and highly illegal driving, because believe it or not, law enforcement may try to connect your user account to your person, or at the very least they may learn on here where people are racing and set up a trap for racers.

And another very important reason is that normal, safe, defensive drivers do not like to be associated with street racing, and they can be rather passionate in their distaste for it, leading to very ugly arguments. It is irresponsible driving behavior, and it endangers the motoring community at large by placing innocent bystanders in the line of mortal danger. So, it is a hot button topic that leads to a lot of unnecessary rancor on discussion forums. If you have to discuss racing or dangerous speeding, you can always set it at a track when you recount the story, and no one will be offended.

It might be a good idea to add a humorous warning to all who enter this sub forum.

Just my two cents - street racing is dumb. It's ignorant. It's dangerous. Many people, including innocent bystanders, have been severely injured or killed because of some stupid kid's decision to drive irresponsibly on the roads. Street racers ruin it for the rest of us who actually participate in the motorsports industry. Hell, they ruin it for people who just want a nice ride. Honestly, if people wanted a place to take out their aggression through driving or stroke their egos, they should try out autox. Always a good sport for those without dedicated cars who want to drive hard. More importantly, it will teach them how to be better drivers.

Race on the track, not on the streets.

Belive me, if there was a track around here that had autox events or even track days in general, I'd do that all day. I mean, the FRS/BRZ isn't a mustang or camaro. It doesn't have 400hp. It's not that fast and would lose most of those cars. So if you know anything about the car you bought, your know it's a track car/canyon carver. It's not a drag car.
