Texas 86 Day Cruise August 6, 2017 - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Since the track day fell through, we've decided to do a cruise on Sunday August 6th. The plan is to meet at the Bucee's across the street from Texas Motor Speedway at 8:30-9am and leave by 9:30am. The route takes us through some fun back roads west of Fort Worth. We will end up at Babe's Chicken around 1pm.

Shneegle and I ran the route yesterday and have tweaked it to avoid some construction. The route is just over 100mi and will take about 3hrs. Plan on using about 3/4ths of a tank of gas (I would highly recommend filling up before we set off).

We don't have any mountains, so this isn't quite as much fun as the twisted sisters; however, this will be a fun cruise. We'll end right at I-35W, so if you are visiting from the south you will have an easy time heading out from the cruise.

Let me know if you are interested, there is no cost and we'll run the route even if there are just a few of us but I'd like to have an idea of how many people we'll have.

Forgot to aks, do y'all use FRS radios for the cruises? I've got some.

You might as well bring them if you've already got them. They can only help. There aren't too many places to get separated, and you can always bail to back east to I-35 or south to HW-377 (one of the benefits of driving through the back country).

The cruise is scheduled for Sunday, 8/6, as part of our annual 86 event, not today. Did you run the route anyway? If so, what'd you think?

Yeah, the cruise is for 8/6. David (Shneegle) and I ran the route last Monday and tweaked a couple of areas to avoid construction. We thought it was a fun little cruise with some interesting scenery and fun roads.

I've updated the first post to include the 8/6 date.
