Accidentally bought a 1320 Front Pipe that was manual only.. I have an auto

Is it a good idea to have a performance shop that does custom fabrication somehow bend the pipe slightly so it could fit the auto tranny with no problem?

It was supposed to be an 'HKS style' front pipe, which fits automatics.

This is the FP I bought.

This is the HKS one

As you can see, there is a very slight difference in the bending. It was too late for me to cancel my order so the pipe is coming in next week .

Is it a good idea to have a shop bend it or will that mess up the flow of the pipe?

If you bend the pipe, you might cause a leak where it connects to OP and catback due to difference in length.

Not sure if this was the case here but don't buy knock-offs... pay the extra money and save the problems

Best way to find out would be to take it to an exhaust shop and have them assess the situation. If you listen to people on this forum, you're going to get the responses you've already seen.. "get a manual".. "don't buy knock-offs".. etc. If you get 1 decent response out of 100 crappy ones I'd be surprised!

@kev0 , there ya go!

Maybe with a torch, a BFH, a crowbar and a pipe wrench, they can make it fit.

As far as looks, it may not be pretty, but who is going to see it? As far as flow, unless they bend it in half, the flow should not be significantly reduced.

I could tell exactly the type of person you are by this post and by the fact that you included "mt" in your car's make and model haha.
