Advice please, from those who had problems...

Hello,

I have a 2015 FRS Automatic that has 28k miles on it and purchased it July 2015.

So this past Wednesday April 5th I started up my car to leave work and as I was leaving the parking garage my traction control and CEL came on. Drove straight to dealership and was told it was something of a camshaft sensor.

Something like that(not exact words). Then they cleared the code and drove it for a few miles, now a new code popped up.

This time my Fuel Pump Assembly.

They'll let me know on Monday what step they'll take next...

I fear that this is the start to a series of headaches. I know this is still covered under warranty and what not, but has anyone else gone through this?

What should I do next? Service adviser also said that with my car being lowered and having aftermarket wheels, if a Toyota rep came I'll most likely be voided for any major repairs...

Only mods I have are
Bilstein shocks and Eibach Lowering Springs
MXP Comp RS Catback Exhaust
Ambit Wheels/Super Sport Tires
Delicious Tuning flash and go stage 1
K/N Drop in Air Filter

Are they able to discover that I tuned the car? Thats really the only engine mod I have going on with it.

Everything I have ever read about tunes from the tune manufacturers say if someone who knows what to look for will find it.

My cust. service rep told me warranty would only be denied if the aftermarket part is the cause of problem. He also said catback exhaust wouldn't deny warranty because it's bolted on. I can't remember the name of that aftermarket thingy that protects the consumer. Sorry I got a brain fart moment.

You're thinking of the Magnusson-Moss act.

No way wheels or a lowering kit can affect engine issues.

But that flash... OP is likely screwed.

The tune will probably be an issue when they try to reflash and the ecutek locks them out.

I have a 2013 AT with 27k on it. I am getting the codes P0011 and P000a. They are both camshaft related. I got the error code for the first time at around 23k miles but it didnt trip the CEL light. I only know about it because I run the Torque app and it monitors for codes. I cleared it and everything was fine for a few months then it came back again. It seems to happen every couple weeks when I put the car in sport mode and drive it hard. About 1 month ago it did trip my CEL light but it hasnt happened again. I have an appointment with the dealer next week. From what I have read they have a long list of stuff to keep changing until they finally change the ECU which usually fixes it. Since its the ECU that most likely is the problem your tune is gonna screw you concerning the warranty. I believe there is a TSB about the issue.

Too late, but was it possible to remove the tune before seeing the dealership? and flash back afterwards?

Damn, is it too late for me then?

This sucks.... would it be possible to maybe get it flashed back to stock? Maybe I can take the car from them and drive over to delicious tuning and flash it back really quick! Lol

I got it flashed stage 1 by delicious tuning in January 2016, maybe if it locks them out from their factory reflash they'll think the ecu is broken too?.... Damn man, this sucks so much.

You can always try going to another dealer that has not seen your car yet.

You might be lucky.

Since cam issues are quite well known and tsb issued etc, and you don't have aftermarket header they are probably not going to suspect or look for tune.

The TSB says to replace the ecu, they will just replace it , most likely without looking any further. You will then need to get the tuner to renew you ecu licience and tune.

However tunes are easy to detect, and unfortunately flashing back to stock with ecutek still leaves the licience in ECU, which alters the CVN (checksum value number) so can still be detected, but they may not look that hard if your lucky.
