As someone who doesn't know a thing about transmissions, the only thing I understood in this thread were the F&F references.

Someone is going to have to explain to me how this will affect synchro wear at all. To get to the next gear- clutch once or twice it doesn't matter- you still have to row through the synchros. They don't just disappear because you hit the clutch an extra time. Rev matching (heel and toe shifting) will help the synchros in a small way, but double clutching- makes no sense at all

tbh i double clutch into first sometimes. i find it a little easier to get into first when i double clutch, either at a stop light or from a slight roll. it could be my imagination, but IIRC first has a more limited synchro than the other gears.

It doesn't matter if you double clutch or not because winning is winning.

I voted double clutch . I see 6 other people did the same.

Now I know who to barbecue with while drinking Coronas and saying grace.

This is backwards.

Rev matching will reduce wear on the clutch. Double clutching will reduce wear on the synchros (and the clutch). When you double clutch you also rev match so that the rotational speeds of the gear and the shaft are matched - result: no appreciable wear on the synchronizer rings when selecting the gear.
