There is a new Scion dealership in Brooklyn Center. It opened a month or two ago. Maybe try that one?

My chirps were cured at Rudy Luther's in Golden Valley, only because I showed up with a copy of the TSB in my pocket. Still good after 1,500 more miles today.

@neutron256, do you know if dealers have the ability to disable the TPMS light with their tools? Is your device basically the same device the dealers use? What's the latest info on disabling the TPMS light?

Thanks!

Federal law prohibits dealers from disabling TPMS even though you as an individual are not required to have it in Minnesota. So even if they can do it they won't.

My tools can read, and reprogram the sensor ID's just like the Dealer or a well equiped tireshop can, but I can't disable them.

You can also reprogram sensors with Techstrem, but not if you have one of the cheap knockoff cables like mine.

I may have a solution for disabling TPMS. I'm currently running my winter wheels without TPMS and got an TPMS light shortly after I switched. I happened to have Techstream Connected for another reason, and I cleared the TPMS error. Since then the light has not come back on. I'd be curious to see if this is really the case so if you want to try it let me know. I'm temporarly without a Windows XP PC that will run Techstream, but I should have that fixed soon.

Anyone interested in getting together sometime soon? I was thinking about maybe a Saturday, Sunday brunch. Pizza Luce in Richfield does a really nice weekend brunch, not to expensive, and they have Mimosas, and a Bloody Mary bar.

Interested? Other Suggestions?

So you're saying keeping Techstream plugged in might disable the light? I'd try it on mine but mine's currently in storage.

No acutally I think that just connecting Techstream, and clearing the error prevents the light from coming back on. No need to keep Techsteam connected. This could just be a coincidence. since I don't drive a lot it might just have not cycled back on.

I have another theory that if you set all the sensor ID's to 00000 using Techstream that it will disable TPMS. Our car supports a spare tire sensor, but it's set to 00000 by default since we don't have a sensor in the spare. I can't test this one unless I get a better cable that supports all the Techstream features though.

Sensor in the spare? A little overkill, don't you think? What country require a sensor in your spare?

It sounds like setting it to 0 overrides/disables the TPMS. I know that the car doesn't include TPMS in other countries, which means there should be a way to disable it, or those cars run an entirely different ECU.

I'm sure a couple of us would be willing to chip in for the better cable if we can keep the TPMS light shut off.

I think the sensor in the spare would be for cars with a full sized spare insted of the little donut we have which is designed to be stored for long periods with little to no loss in pressure.

The DrewTech MongoosePro cable which is the officaly approved cable for Techstream is $500 which is way more then I would pay. There is the Tactrix Openport 2.0 which is $169 which works with Techstream, but I haven't been able to confrim if it can program TPMS ID's on our cars.

If I can confirm the Tactrix cable works I'll be more then happy to buy one.

The wheels and tires I bought from @_F-R-S_ arrived today.

Direzza Star Spec 235/40/17s on Sparco Assetto Garas.

They're not really that much wider then the stock tires but man that looks like one beefy tire.

Wheel specs?

Edit: Nevermind, they're 17x7.5 according to this thread.

They're a bit meaty for a 7.5" wide tire IMO. I'm sure you'll burn right through those Star Specs in no time though.

Yeah I mostly wanted the wheels. The tires were a plus. But who knows, with as little driving I do they could last a couple years.
