somehow i never got that feeling. most people who knows the history of the development like to credit Subaru for the engineering.

for those of who knows the history. they almost all agreed that, Toyota front the money, the proposal, and manage the project. they also all agreed that Subaru perform most the engineering, incorporates the technology from both company and produce this car.

so when people say the car is Subaru, they are just attributing the engineering effort. but never the less, the GT86/BRZ is a end product of both companies.

It's generally people who are Subaru fans, and probably dislike Toyota/Scion. Not necessarily people who are uneducated, but those who like to read what they want to read.

i think at that point, all we can do is set the story stright and move on.

i mean, even the subby fans are complaining that why isnt a STi out yet? why isnt it AWD, why isnt it turbo... and how this isnt a true subaru....

people sometime...

Agreed. I actually had some teenagers tell me my car is the new Supra (Toyota just decided to change the name). I just agreed and went on my way. I love when people tell you about your car, like you don't know anything about it.

There's actually two different stories from Toyota and Subaru about the early development and who really took charge. My understanding of the basic similarities between the two stories is that they did share costs and both had engineers and designers involved in the project at some point. I'm not really biased to either one per se as I like to think they tried to keep it 50:50 as much as was reasonably possible. But, for example, we know Toyota is doing most of the marketing.

The issue I see Toyota/Subaru fans get stuck on and make an issue of is the majority of the individual cars were built/assembled by Subaru, excluding the D4S system and a couple other parts like the audio. That ignores the huge investment in design and engineering that was involved. Plus some people hate the boxer or more likely just hate the mac struts front suspension, right @fatoni?

And then there's the anti-Scion crowd... anyway.

I haven't seen that pic yet, houseofsuffering.

haha, i dont hate struts or boxer motors. what i hate is how people act like certain aspects, despte how well or poorly executed, are enough to say what is going to be a better complete package.

Maybe worth noting there are plenty of Toyota sports cars while this is arguably a first for Sunday

Lol nice typo, I had to think a little for that one

But true Toyota likes to do it and "knew" how to

Subaru knows how to, but never felt like it

Why?

Someone go weigh the Scion and Subaru badges and find out which 1 weighs less to find out which is truly the better lightweight sports car. My money is on the Scion badge. That should teach those Subaru fanboys they got the watered down version HA!
