2019 Production numbers?

Hey gang! First time poster here and future owner.

I plan on picking up a BRZ Limited model within the next few months. Recent sales history shows most BRZs sold in April and May. I guess that's due to good weather coming up? Or Memorial Day specials?

Anyway, the car will be new. I don't like paying the new price premium to take the depreciation hit...but I am a big fan of the #savethemanuals movement and want to buy a good manual little sports car to support them staying around.

I want to find the production numbers for 2019 here in the US...but haven't yet. Maybe I didn't look hard enough. I'm curious about the options and color breakouts.

Limited model manual should give me everything I want, but not interested in the performance package. I intend to mod the car myself and want to choose my own brake kit/wheels/tires/suspension etc.

If you need the car, buy it when you need it. If you want it but don’t need m, it wait until the 2020 ones come out. Don’t pay MSRP. For a Limited BRZ, you shouldn’t pay invoice either (you should be paying under it). Stop researching about production numbers and start researching price (contact internet department of your local dealerships). Production numbers are quite irrelevant when it comes to getting a good deal.

But since you’re curious, in order of the most popular color in terms of production it is White, Blue, Black, Grey, Silver, Red. The Premium model is made more than the Limited manual. The Limited with Performance package and without are pretty even. Then the Limited Automatic.

Don't need it, this will be a second car. I've not seen any news on when the 2020 will be released..but I'd be willing to wait if there's good news about model updates.

I don't intend to pay MSRP and will hunt for a good deal..but ultimately I'm more interested in finding exactly what I want vs getting the best deal.

Thanks for the help on the colors. Didn't realize Silver and Red were the 2 most rare..that helps.

Hmm, I thought they were. Corvette production numbers are easy to get with option breakdown and colors and all.

Not a Corvette. Neither Subaru nor Toyota publish their individual model production numbers. Never have. Wish they would so that people would see that they are selling what they are making instead of panicking because of "declining sales".

It’s pretty hard these days to get ripped off on a BRZ so even if you don’t get the best deal, you’re likely to score a deal either way and if you do value getting exactly what you want then it’s worth it anyways. If you’re not in a rush then you can order the exact one you want, it takes about 6-8 weeks. You can contact your local dealerships and ask for quotes even on a car that needs to be ordered.

Actually, Toyota did advertise that the 2017 model was limited to 8,600 units in the USA. And then the 2017 860 special edition was 1,720 units (860 orange, 860 white). Not sure if that meant the initial number got boosted to 10,320 or if they were included in the 8,600 figure. Wish we could figure out if all of that sold, but they don’t break out which model year sold in any one particular month. They started selling it late 2016, November I think, and the 2018s didn’t appear until Spring of 2018 (can’t remember the months exactly). The last time I checked they probably got close to selling all 10,320 if you assume the majority of the ones sold in that time frame were MY2017.

A 2020 model??? It’s official?! It’s probably turbo...definitely the 2.4L...we should start a new thread just about this!!

But like @Veloist said (and he’s a super reputable source too - check all his VIN list research/publications), you’ll definitely get a number well below MSRP and invoice. When I was looking at 2018s, I was able to build a limited w/ the Performance Pack, full STI lip kit, and STi short shifter for 29,000 out the door (including taxes, fees, etc). And that was without me trying to neogitiate. I ultimately ended up spending more and getting a tS, but I still got that for at least 3K under sticker and that was in April 2018.

That was a one off for marketing reasons. They don’t publish production numbers normally.

Ah HA! That was almost a concession that I was right! I’ll try not to make a habit of it.

Wasn’t almost it was 100% a confirmation you were correct. For that one year and for a special reason.

True story: Veloist once tried to sell me a 2017 BRZ at $5K over MSRP

I instead bought a 2018 for almost $4K under. Shop around, dig up invoice data, and use the internet department.
