Mine has been clicking while on since 45k and I'm at 55k now. Subaru diagnosed it as a failing blower.

Necroposting to add to the list of people who's blower motors have developed a noise at ~53K miles. Mine sounds like chirping crickets, ironically enough, and began just a few days ago.

I might as well up date what I did to solve this issue. Mine has made a chirp sound for years when it was cold out. But back in Dec it suddenly starting making all sorts of sounds. What I did was remove the in cabin filter and then spray WD 40 all over the top of the motor (with it running and also with it off). Put the filter back in and let it run for a few minutes. The motor immediately became quiet.

It is now the end of Feb and the blower is still perfectly silent. Cheap and easy fix so far.

Thanks I will give that a shot. Don't think I have owned a Japanese built car yet that the blower didn't start to make noise. Most were a bitch to get to to try to lube and I never thought to go through the cabin filter space. Makes it easy enough to actually do.
