I'm completely lost.
The terms you need to become familiar with..

Axleback: everything from the rear axle back. AKA the muffler, and exhaust tips.

Catback: the axleback + the midpipe. Called the catback because it "starts" at the second cat.

Midpipe: The pipe that comes between the muffler and the front pipe. It is the longest piece of exhaust piping.

Front pipe: The stock contains a Cat, and a resonator. Connects the Midpipe and the overpipe. Some people falsely consider the front pipe + the catback the "headerback"

Overpipe: connects the header and midpipe. Called this because it crosses over part of the subframe. Everything from here back is the headerback.

Header: the last (and arguably most important) part of the exhaust. It directs and combines all escaping gas from your engine. The shape of this has a major effect on how your car will sound, and it's power curve.

Does CAT= Catillac converter?
Is the midpipe also known as a "straight pipe"?
Sorry for all the noobish questions.

1) Catalytic converter, but yes.

2) not entirely. The midpipe is the straightest of the pipes, but Straight pipes are a term given to exhausts that come generally straight back from the header with no obstructions, bends, mufflers, cats. They tend to be EXTREMELY loud, and often raspy.

Also, to correct myself, I was at the gym typing that last bit up on my phone.

Replace midpipe in my last description with "front pipe"

The catback is the midpipe + axleback. Fixing my previous post.

Diagram here.

Guys who have this can you please take some video's? specifically from outside the car reving and under load if possible.

How is it working with the visconti tune? still smooth? Is there any risk of things not running "right" on a standard stage 1 tune? Im running his 93 tune right now and want to buy this or nameless but they are taking a long time.

Thanks,!

Thanks @Hawaiian for your responses in the other thread. Figured I'd move here so as not to jack the Vortech fitment thread.

This question for anyone and @P&L Motorsports. I'm complete stock exhaust with a Visconti tune and I'm fairly happy. It really looks to me like the header is the worst part of the stock system and the largest contributer to the infamous torque dip area. Would you say that just this header (catted) would fill that area in the power band out like I think it would with no other exhaust system changes?

It was smooth when I was running it with the Visconti tune, but I am sure if you send him logs he can clean it up a little more. He did send me a few changes after I had sent him logs, but it was nothing major.

We should have more video within the next few weeks. I want the header, and a slightly modified exhaust back on my car by may 5th (a meet up here), and I will be out of town the last week of April, so that puts the timeframe close.

I think a Header + overpipe replacement will do wonders. The stock exhaust is very quiet, it comes with a cat, a resonator, and a quiet muffler. Someone replaced the stock header (with the fa20club) and left the rest of the exhaust intact, and it was fairly tame. I would imagine similar results with this header.

If you do go that route, I bet there would be a lot of people interested in sound clips, and a dyno if you run one.

Hawaiian speaks the truth.

Header should fill if not be very close to exactly what you need. Adding the Overpipe is also recommended. Plus we are currently running a sale till the end of May - so be sure to keep that in consideration.

I cant speak for Visconti tunes, but its been behaved with no sputters, no surprises for the Perrin tune on my Vortech FI car. I'm testing a few out as we speak and running logs. SO far so good.

The TQ dip 'feels' like its completely gone, the motor just begs to rev more. Its still smooth, no evidence of things not running right.

Mine seems to run just fine on a stage1 VTune. It seems to adapt well to the header. Based on what Hawaiian said previously, I'm confident in saying you should be just fine until you can run logs and submit for review.
I've put at least 100 miles on it since.

As for videos, I won't even bother with my exhaust in its current state. @Hawaiian can attest to that, lol...

You may not the faster than the P&L car, but that SRT exhaust certainly makes it sound more "aggressive".
