Tires- MPSS- wow they are awesome in the rain!
225/45/17 Michelin Pilot Super Sports
I went up a size in width, same OEM rims. In the dry these tires are very grippy. It's a lot more work to get this car sideways now (for better or worse) and these tires are a lot safer even if they do expose the #1 issue with this car- lack of power. I knew they'd be better than the stockers and they are. MPG has gone down by 2-3 MPG though. Ugh. In the rain the stock tires were a little scary. I'd get spin taking off easy and just no grip in turns either. Yeah they were fun at times because they slide so easy but I needed more grip (it's a DD) so I got the MPSS. Yes it's January but in FL you can run summer tires year round. Yesterday was the first time it's really rained so I got the try these bad boys out in a deluge. Wow they are champs! The wet weather grip with these tires is almost as good as the dry weather grip with the stock tires! At first I was cautious with them, expecting them to be as bad as the OEM tires, but soon I pushed them and they are amazing. On the highway there was no issue with hydroplaning (I haven't had this issue in a while since I changed the aero on my car, but when I first got the car it was and with wider tires I was afraid I might) even though there were puddles in the travel lane (like I said- deluge). In corners where the OEM tires would spin up and slide around the MPSS had no drama at all. I was able to get sideways in one corner- but I was pushing much harder than I ever could with the OEM tires in the wet. I can launch on these a lot better (not like a dry launch obviously but a normal take off doesn't create spin) in the wet. I love me some pilot pro sports! Yep, tires make all the difference. I can do an all out launch on the ZII SS in my IS300. But only when they are brand new. After 6 months of wear they aren’t as good in the rain but still fare superior to budget tires. People really don’t know what they are missing out on when they try to save $40 per tire.

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...SSXL&tab=Sizes I’m not sure he is actually talking about the Super Sport though. He referred to them as “new” but the MPSS is not a new tire. But anyways, that link is to the MPSS in 215/45/17. |

Sorry, yeah Pilot Super Sport- no Pro.
They are new tires as in new to me; I just got them new, not new as in a new line. The line of tires have been out for a while. The Pilot Sport 4 supersedes the MPSS and is supposed to be even better. In my area I found the MPSS easily, I haven't seen PS4 yet. |

How are these in colder temperatures?
Obviously not for snow, but what about a rainy day in the upper 30s, lower 40s? |

I haven't much of a chance to test them in the cold. We've had some mornings in the 40's here and they have been fine, I don't really notice any difference in the cold. But Florida "cold" isn't exactly the same as the rest of the nation's version of cold either.
