I'm going to be honest, my personal experience is to spend the extra money and buy top of the line stuff. Buy used if you have to. With generic brand headers and whatnot, you might feel some gains but ive heard many comments on how people dont think it's worth the money. I have a definite increase in torque and overall power. The car feels like i'm running E85 with a tad less oomph. So running E85 is going to make it that much better.

Plus with a custom tune it's going to be geared more towards your car and the way you already like to drive so it's going to feel that much better. My previous header setup was hte Open Flash Headers with the off the shelf Stage 2 tune. My custom tune with the JDL headers feels WAY better and the car feels a lot more powerful compared to the canned tune.
How much did it cost you to custom tune it?

That good feel when I just managed to nab some JDL UEL catted headers for $700. The cat had been replaced under warranty and the thermal coating was redone as well. I pretty much stole a top tier UEL header lol

How'd that combo work out?
I'm looking for a good alternative to the ace/delicious tune combo. Everybody's raving about it but there has to be an option that can provide 75% of the performance at half the price. Unless the ace header is made of vibranium or something.

I wouldn't spend a ton on header/ tune. I would buy a good quality used header and oft and save money for f.i. of some sort.

I have tomei el headers and full tomei exhaust so not only did i get power but also dropped weight. Best gains right there. I'm on e85 on oft tune. I would say tomei is the best headers out there without it costing over $1000.

Like another poster said, if you're looking for power on the cheap, watch the for sale ads here. You can pick up a used good condition set of headers for cheap. I picked up a set of P&L catted el headers for under 400 here a couple years ago and they rip. Plenty of good headers out there that will give you well over 75% of an ace setup for well under half the cost. They are nice, but not magic.

Ive had both. Tomei/Gruppe-S used with an OFT used will get you 75% of the way to ACE/Delicious. I just happened to have extra cash from selling another vehicle to make the jump otherwise would have been happy with the GruppeS OFT combo.

How was the torque at low rpm? I've heard that OFT provides more torque across the power band but you lose some down low. And I need that for traffic...

Few things to consider, ace headers come with overpipe, would be about 200$ to buy separate. Also ace 250 has more HP and is 300$ cheaper then 350.

Also why leave gains on the table? Ppl want to save a few bucks on header But then want more power so end up tossing more money at exhausts, pulleys, driveshafts, flywheels, lightweight mods etc. just get the best from the start and you won’t regret it.

Or just go turbo.

Listen to Super Tom. You can not beat a Gruppe-S with an OFT. Don't bother with a over pipe. Gains are very little to nothing. Same some cash for a nice catback. Invida R400 would pair and sound really good with the combo above. Can't have racecar without some racecar sound.

Im not sure what OFT does on its own but combined with the Gruppe-s headers eliminates the midrange torque which is the main area used in daily driving
