I am getting conflicting information.
If someone could give me a True/False answer that would be nice. Driving a 2017 BRZ MT. 1. Hill Assist is OFF from factory (meaning car will roll back) 2. Once activated, Hill Assist icon Light will ALWAYS be lighted ON so long the engine is running. 3. The illumination of Hill Assist icon on the Dash in the BRZ signifies Hill Assist is ON (car will not roll back) and not Hill Assist is deactivated (car will roll back) Cheers |

Same for me ('17 MT BRZ Premium), the instrument cluster icon is always lit after hill assist is turned on - regardless of whether or not hill assist is currently in use (and stays lit until you again switch it off). It is kind of annoying that it stays lit, it advertises to anyone who gets in the car that I do have it on which of course opens me up to instant ridicule (not that anyone here would do that ).

I've had some laughs reading this thread. Reminds me of when they started putting ABS on cars and all the folks who claimed, "I'm a bad ass and can stop faster without ABS". Yes, you can if you are a very accomplished driver.
The hill hold is sort of the same way. Any driver who knows what they are doing can hold a car on any hill by slipping the hell out of the clutch. So now there is a modern technology that saves your clutch and makes it easier on the driver, and somehow folks feel like that's a bad thing. I'm 45 and started driving a manual at 15yo. The first "hill hold" car I ever had was a 2014 Ford Fusion manual. Great feature. I loved it! |

I didn't know you were the supreme ruler and made the rules on what constitutes knowing how to drive manual.
