I didn't see it mentioned, but maybe you bought 55W bulbs? OEM spec is 35W.

If you bought 55W bulbs, the ballast isn't sending enough juice to properly power the bulb, so it won't work properly.

I bought Ostram Xenarc 66440 CBI bulbs (which are 35W, but 5000K) and they work great. Never had an issue.

4300k is closer to actual sunlight. at the same wattage level, lumen output goes down the higher up in color temperature you go. Between 4300k and 6000k it's roughly 300 lumens (not a huge amount). The more important distinction is you get much better color reproduction and clarity at 4300k. Your rods, responsible for night vision, become more sensitive to the higher color temperature so it appears brighter but you lose detail. You generate more glare without increasing visibility.

6000k is not terrible, but not optimal. if you want it for cosmetics that's fine, but functionality suffers. This is why OEM is always in the 4300K range.

I prefer 5000k, it's a nice balance between vision and appearance. It's pretty much pure white usually, but it's also not very common.

hey I am having the exact same issue! It's just been really cold and constant snowing here in New York so I haven't had the opportunity to fix this, but my passenger side headlight goes out after a few minutes driving. The drivers side bulb is fine. I too love the look of the 6000k hids and love that they match my fogs. Should I have diode dynamics send me a replacement bulb?

swap sides on the bulbs to make sure it is a bulb problem. then contact diode dynamics

Seems like more and more of these issues are coming up with their bulbs.

I believe the DD bulbs are 35W. I could have sworn I read that on the bulb when I pulled it out to inspect it.

I would do what the person above said and swap them to see if you're getting the same issue. I would contact DD and inform them of the issue you are having.
Once I went back to my stock bulbs I haven't had an issue. Still waiting on the arrival of my Philips HID Bulbs...

You're right Diode Dynamics doesn't sell the 55 watt crap.

The OEM would have a higher output because typically the more you veer away (higher or lower) from 4300-4500k output, the less output you have. You sacrifice colour for output.

OEM isn't that pleasing, imho. I like 5500k tbh.
