We have some interest - I hope we can generate some more.

Two of the clubs in Conference will be hosting HPDE/LAPPING sessions during their competition race weekends this year. They are IRDC (PR and Ridge) and Cascade (PIR). There is a possibility of incorporating the NW86 cup cars into their schedule somehow. They each have 3 weekends between May and August.

Not sure what their schedules will accommodate for the lapping sessions, if the 86 cars can have their own session or not - but it's worth a conversation. It would also depend on the number of commitments as well. If we can bring 10-15 cars to the event that's a great place to start from a negotiating standpoint.

My days of herding cats are behind me so if you're still looking to make this happen it's not too late. Start by reaching out the VPs of Cascade and IRDC.

I may give that a go. Thanks for the contact info. There is a lot more interested. The Bremerton SCC does a lot of autoX and there are a bunch of twins with them. Talking with one of their guys, he thinks quite a few would be interested.

I wasn't aware of this previously, but the Oregon SCCA Region already has a time trial program at PIR. A license is not required and the entry fees are reasonable at $150 for three 20 minute sessions. This seems like a good fit to kick off a NW86Cup, all people would need to do is show up. The 86Cup classes would need to run unofficially but that shouldn't be a big deal.

Here is a link to some details: http://www.oregonscca.com/time-trials.html

The August 10,11 dates and September 14-15 dates would be best because they area also road-race events.

I might hit up one of those. The events that rice_classic mentioned are just too soon. I am in the process of switching jobs again during that time.

I just got this email from the president of IRDC:
Quote:
Hi everyone,
Happy Monday! We're officially under a month from the first driving event
of the year! A few things you should all be aware of:
1. HPDE is a big focus area for the club this year. We'll have an HPDE run
group on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of each of our weekends this year.

REQUEST - let your track day friends know about this and get them to sign
up! Experienced drivers only with a 25 car cap.

April 13 at Pacific HPDE Sign Up - http://msreg.com/2019IRDCAprilHPDE
May 10 - 12 at Pacific HPDE Sign Up - http://msreg.com/2019IRDCMayHPDE
July 19 - 21 at Pacific HPDE Sign up -
http://msreg.com/2019HPDEatSummerClassic
August 23 - 25 at The Ridge HPDE Sign up -
http://msreg.com/2019HPDEatThunderRidge

There may be an opportunity for a May/July/August or just July/Aug option for 86 cup with IRDC. If Cascade in Portland did it too that could be 4+ events for year.

Just wanted to share if there's still interest on the table. I'm also going to update the NW trackday thread about this since that's a lot of lapping options that are also on the weekend which is a big deal for some.

Just spoke with the VP of IRDC and he's interested and wants to know more. If this is copacetic with the HPDE run group they have planned he thinks it sounds like a good idea. I'll dm (pm?) you his contact info.

No news yet.

Out of curiosity what tracks and organizations is everyone solo qualified with ? Turn2 doesn't have a program and as long as you are safe they don't care. I have done HOD at ORP. Otherwise nowhere else.

So we have the potential to run with IRDC during their HPDE groups on May 11-12th at Pacific Raceways. It is still being voted on. Must be solo qualified to run. I know it is short notice and a lot of people have already planned out their track day season. Is there interest? I myself am not qualified for that track but I would show anyway.

I'm planning to run in the HPDE group that weekend anyway so count me in. Let me know if there's anything special I should to when I register. You also might be able to get qualified at the test and tune the day before.

I was the IRDC HPDE/TnT yesterday and the FRS got a LOT of attention. More importantly to this thread - the president of IRDC and other board members all mentioned how cool they thought the 86cup thing was. I would say it's 99% approved and everyone here who's interested in participating in the 86cup should absolutely plan on participating. What do we need to do to make this 86cup thing official and start getting names on paper for commitments?

For the May IRDC weekend I return from wedding on that Saturday but I could attend Sunday. The HPDE sessions are both Sat and Sun. https://www.icscc.com/2019/announce/irdc_may_annc.pdf

The next step is to contact the leadership at Cascade so the 86cup can take place at PIR as well.

Contacting Mike and then setting up what set of rules we want to run. Getting forms setup, figuring out how to keep track of timing. Not really too bad. Working on it a bit now. Not home yet, won't be for a while.
