DIY Custom Door LED Projector

I have taken so much from here and I thought I would give back with this DIY

List of materials

Transparency Film - [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0040YC7FI/ref=oh_details_o03_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]Amazon.com: Apollo Laser Jet Printer and Copier Transparency Film, 50 Sheets (CG7060): Office Products[/ame]

Cheapo Door Led projector [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BYOJ7Q4/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]3W 4th Generation Car Logo LED Ghost Shadow Light Laser Door Projector Auto Door Light for BMW : Amazon.com : Automotive[/ame]

A computer to use your favorite vector imaging software with

A Decent printer preferable laser.

Some time and patience.

Take your Projectors apart.

Remove the plastic piece that holds the actual image in it.

Pry it open gently and remove the film that came with it.

On your pc you will need to size the image to the size of the hole where the light passes through. (mine was 1.2 cm square visible area and the size of the film was 1.4 cm square

Design out your image so that it is centered and does not have the edges cut off by the plastic holder.

Print out your custom image. (I used a vector image of the 86 Logo)

Very precisely cut out the image from the sheet film. I printed a square pattern and then cut the edges to round it out. It made things much more simplistic and I didn't have to go back and trim stuff. Use Gloves or you will get finger grease on your lens.

Once you have cut it. Put the new image into the lens holder. Be sure your image is facing towards the light source. So that its not mirror.

Make sure your lens are in aligned nicely and put it all back together. if all is well you now have a custom door projectors.

Its a mini projector that fits into your door and projects that 86 symbol on the ground when you open your doors. Personally, i think it looks tacky af.

You're right. Not liking the whole image thing..

If i was going to do it it would have more subtlty and class to it.

Get some led light strips

with a light diffuser

and make a solid glow or with work, a crisp beam under the door in soft white.

If someone could give me the voltage in from that door light already there I'll be the guinea pig.
