My wife s first car
So I have been watching for something kind of cool for my wife to drive lately. She has never had her own car, and currently hasnt driven for 2 years or so aside from when she visits her fam and a few other things. Anyways this morning I was surfing the classifieds when I found something awesome for $500. A 1987 sr5 coupe! Now here comes the best part. She cannot drive stick at all. I bought her a ep civic and she drove it like one time so I sold it. Anyways, this sr5 is... AUTO! I know there are a few out there, but I got this for a steal and she cant drive stick so im pretty happy. Oh and I ended up paying $300 because the car is missing a few misc parts.
Anyways I am going to clean the car up and try finding the parts before christmas so I can give her, her first car for christmas! I will post parts needed in classifieds later! Little/ no rust Under 140k miles! Here it is: |

I couldn't give an old car like that as a gift, unless it was to a car enthusiast. I would just be worrying all the time that if they crash it they will be royally screwed.
But congrats on the find. |

Wow, that is a good find. I've been looking for something like that for a DD/Beater and to put a little money into. Best of luck with it if you purchase it.

make sure you show her some nice pics of really nice ones so she can see the potential.. not to be sexist but women usually dont see the beauty in a "raggity" car.. i saw one 2 days ago in my city that looks just like this.. im gonna leave a note to see if the owner will sell it

That IS a steal! Grats on the find man! I'm jealous because I've been looking for a daily, and well, why not just get another 86? Especially an SR-5! I already have a GT-S, so, wouldn't be tempted to do something to it...
Errr, ok, thats a lie. Uncracked dash....you have no idea how lucky you are. It always seems like the kouki dashes are uncracked. Edit: Please tell me you'll at least put some Celica Supras on that sucker. Those are the same rims used for the GT-S spares! Last edited by OldSkoolToys; 11-19-2009 at 02:33 PM. |

Bronze will go good with that blue. Yer a lucky dude to have a wife that would be happy/stoked to get an 86 as a DD. For valentines you should source a GT-S front bumper. Oh and a GT-S rear-end! You could tell her its for her safety with all-wheel disc. OH! and then for her birthday you should put together a GT-S swap! Last edited by OldSkoolToys; 11-21-2009 at 09:17 PM. |
