Crawford posts of engine failure example at 218hp

The odd time I see posts like this makes me question if I should be really bucking up for big power? I really don't know all the details and the FB post is not a big story. Perhaps however someone who knows folks at Crawford may be able to shed some light. Seen this posted tonight.

I don't believe I can see this page. It says it's unavailable.

So far this is all they've said.

"Looks like the stock rods that come in the BRZ/FRS are not as strong as some are leading us to believe. This motor was only making 218HP and the rod broke in half at the track this weekend. After closer inspection it looks like the piston came apart first as its in a thousand pieces, the rod broke secondary

Looks like this would generate good interest in "built" motors.

Maybe a bad tune? Maybe a DI seal failure?

I can't see the FB page but as I see it this is sensationalistic. We do not know at this point in time why the engine/piston failed. I bet there is going to be lots of speculation that will soon morph into "omg!! these engines are p*ss weak!!". It may have ingested a screw, it may have been a bad tune. We don't know but I don't recollect reading many stories like this.

For record I'm not freaking out it just stood out as a post from them is all. I know lots here boosted with lots miles and more hp as well with no issues. Suppose to be clear I'm just hoping someone may be able to chime in if they know more details. As mentioned there are lots of variables for certain.

Crawford posts of engine failure example at 218hp

Back on September 14 2012, Crawford said the motor looked SOLID. I guess we've been misinformed! What have "some led us to believe"? LOL
