Road and Track July 2015 ran a half-page overview of the 2015 tS BRZ. It reads as if the author "hopes" this will get introduced in the USA, but it doesn't specifically claim that is true. Specs read much like the earlier BRZ tS models.

I don't quite get how the inertia of a heavier driveshaft improves shifting. Would that help with the notorious N-1-2, 3-2-1 combinations that have plagued many northern drivers like myself?

I don't care about "STI" when we have folks like the Drift Office and Delicious plus all of the awesome 3rd party parts and support we have received. Most of this stuff seems kinda cosmetic and a bit cheesy. Sorry - not my bag. I was interested in STI when Subaru was in the WRC but I am not sure the group is anything other than a marketing department now.

Well STi is still in motor sports, specifically the gt300 series. Honestly what they are doing now is no different than all the other OEM aftermarket arms, it's just offering their products a la carte for people to decide how they want to modify their vehicles. STi parts are now more about smoothness and pinpoint handling than just "track only" applications. I've put in all the tS parts and it has made a world of difference in how my car responds. And everyone who has driven it is impressed how well it feels from both its ability to corner as well as everyday driving.

Humm I'm not sure if you would call these equipment "kinda cosmetic and a bit cheesy":

"STI" just won the SP3T class in the Nurburgring 24 hours race this year. They left WRC due to changing regulations and switched to endurance racing instead since 2008 I believe:

In Japan STI is a real motorsport arm of Subaru and is alive and well. I especially like how their pit crew also includes master techs from their Japanese Subaru dealerships, very grassroots feel. I guess they gotta sell some street tuning parts and a few fully tuned street cars to make extra cash for supporting their racing effort. /marketing

BTW the STI parts catalog has been around since the 1st gen Legacy when they were supposedly rallying.

No turbo. Anyone who says otherwise is a damned dirty liar.
