Yes, but they are using best very, very, VERY loosely. By best they mean current, affordable-by-the-average-consumer, award-winning engines. There are no supercar engines, one-off engines, race engines, or GOATs in there, so yea, definitely not the "Top Ten Best Engines In The World" without this: *

True.

In their opening remarks, they did qualify their headline statement.

"Only new or significantly re-engineered engines or propulsion systems that are available for sale in the US and are installed in cars with a base price of less than $64,000 are eligible."

Guess what engine made that list in 2012? And in 2016? Our FA20, torque dip and all.

In fact there's a Subaru flat 4 on that list every time one is released/redesigned.

I reckon their test engine didn't have the weak valve springs and obviously the TOB wasn't considered part of the engine -

LOL, I do like how they call the Zupra driver/owners "deaf dumb and blind kids".

Lets hope the "pinball" keeps of the bumpers.

Reminds me of the old adage IRT performance and modifications

Cheap Reliable Fast, pick 2

For the Zupra, well it does sound good, so deaf is out of the equation, that only leaves dumb and blind......

And according to whom? No sources cited (that I saw at least). This is the opinion of MSN? In which case I'd steer clear

All I did was ask the question if this was the same engine.

For the source you had to back up in the link one page.

"WardsAuto has released its list of the 10 best engines for 2019.

The top 10 includes traditional gasoline and diesel engines as well as fuel cell, electric, and hybrid propulsion systems.
Mass markets brands such as Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, and RAM took seven of the spots with luxury brands BMW, Infiniti, and Lexus taking the final three spots.
Only new or significantly re-engineered engines or propulsion systems that are available for sale in the US and are installed in cars with a base price of less than $64,000 are eligible".

Hey, I read it on the Internet - so, it must be true -

Hah, sorry! Wasn't attacking you.

Figured it was Wards; think they're the only ones that really do an engine top ten. Though, in my experience, it really doesn't mean anything. Just seems like something to brag about.

I am pretty sure that the FA20 won this award a couple years ago from the same entity. Do with that whatever you like.

Well, that was before they discovered the weak valve springs and the crappy TOB isn't part of the engine and torque dip don't count and ….

There are so many misconceptions and lies about the new Supra. Also check this out.

- It is not a BMW factory building both cars
- Z4 and Supra design and tests were done independently after joint platform design.
- Toyota did not simply take an existing BMW engine. The engine was completely redesigned jointly matching Toyota reliability standards
- The 8-speed transmission is not even BMW
so on ....

I was thinking about buying a Corvette Stingray while it is still front engine but, I think, I will need to take a good look at Supra as well.
