DRL at night?

hey everyone,

anyone know how to keep your DRL on at night? is this something that the dealer can do for us?

i just think the DRLs are freaking SWEET and would love to have them on with the awesome headlights as well.

will this require aftermarket modification?

i hope i dont sound too much like a noob :X

+1

In my other cars I'm used to turning off my headlights when I back into my driveway so I'm not shining light into my neighbors houses at night but with the FR-S, the DRL's do shoot much higher than the headlights.

Don't be that guy.

The circuit gets a trigger from the main ecu so it would be unlikely. You would need to wire a new relay or wire it off a new power source only on with acessories or when car is running. Or you could wire a direct switch. All options are troublesome if you don't know basic wiring or have the time.

its actually super easy to do. I did with my 86 lights just to see the look but yeah DRLs are not speced for night time use so even though it looks sweet I'm not interested in blinding other drivers.

What I am interested in doing however is preventing DRLs from going off with E-brake.

The method I used to keep them on with heads would accomplish this, however they would also remain on even with engine off any time car is turned to ACC...

Basically I want the DRLs to function 100% stock except for the ebrake thing.... any ideas anyone?

Were you thinking about using the DRL as an accent to the head lights?

The Audi A8 has this although I don't think it uses the DRL to shine its "night" LEDs.

I know C-Class & previous E-Class Benz cars had their LED DRL strips on at night, but at a reduced brightness when the headlights were on. Maybe this could be something to look into?

What's stopping anybody from getting a little extra light by wiring in a relay that turns them on with the high beams?

I'm surprised to the negative responses to turning on DRL's when there are so many idiots with "modified" headlights illegally blinding the piss out of everything they touch!

Why does it surprise you that people are against adding more unnecessary, blinding light to the road at night? Other people having bad light output is no excuse to do so yourself.
