Road & Track: Top 10 Coolest looking engines (Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ made top 10!)

Just browsing their website and was surprised our twins made the top 10 coolest looking engines made today! Pretty cool to be considered on this list that is mainly composed of super cars such as the GTR, Aventador, Regera, Ferrari, Bugatti....etc.

https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-car...oking-engines/

only wished they would have used a picture from the current manual transmission MY17+ with the red manifold however....

what other car has a better engine bay per dollar value? Considering most modern engine bays are littered with plastic covers and wiring, the 86's bay is quite nice in comparison..

This what happens when other cars get the entire engine bay covered with basically a plastic hood under the real hood. For example the new Supra

Your google-fu is weak.

..and your comprehension-fu is weak, that list would be completely different if it included past cars. The list only includes new cars.

I agree! At least they could have used better photos showing just the engine. Instead, over half are of the engine bay with most of the goodness covered by plastic.

No, that article is a giant FAIL!

I was reading lately about the difficulty to minimize the height of the engine and the different components. The target was to place the engine as lower and back to the driver as possible. Normally, on a mass produced engine the specification accuracy of a component can be in the range of 0.1mm. So, a component of 10mm is OK to be 10.1mm. This was changed on the particular engine to something like 10.00001mm. Additionally, the minimum spacing between parts was changed to just 2mm. So, it wasn't that easy to achieve the following:

Bullshit conformed. Clearly that idiot writer has never worked on a car his whole life.

As humfrz said "spark plugs".

Apparently that writer thinks that hiding engines under plastic covers makes them look cool. There are much cooler-looking engines out there.
