my two cents, but ... I ordered an Optima red top for my Lexus about 2 years ago... it is already going weak on me. If I don't drive the car for a few days it becomes hard to crank and after my 3 week trip it was dead. Lame I thought thing was gonna be able to outlast an OEM type battery.

Also, don't order a battery online or on Amazon, it seems the return policy is different when you buy it online. Something about not being able to ship the battery back, and there's nowhere local to return it to. Buy it at a Costco or a auto parts store so you can make a warranty claim if needed.

Ha, I'd be down. My car is already pretty dirty. Sitting in Daly City fog is not good if you wanna keep a car clean. It just constantly is damp and the water catches all the dirt/dust in the area.

Did you get any of this off amazon? I still have some credit there and getting some supplies might be a good use for it.

Yes, you have a problem

^Sage advice here. I see a lot of folks switching to the light weight batteries but what they don't tell you is the reduced cranking ability and ability to hold a charge. Shouldn't be a problem for a week end/track car but for a daily, I'd stick with OEM or similar.

But red top isn't one of those tiny light weight ones, I thought it was supposed to be an OEM replacement/equivalent.

yeah, but what sucks is the optima red top isn't a lightweight battery, it's meant to be a "better-than-OEM" performance battery. And at least in my experience, it's no better and maybe worse than the OEM battery...

I've been happy with the Chemical Guys supplies I've bought and they're available through Amazon. I mainly chose them because their rinseless watch had good reviews and makes apartment parking lot washing easy. Doublecheck the prices though unless you really want to burn your credit because I think with promotions it was cheaper to buy directly.

The reviews for Optima have been less than stellar for years now since they moved production outside the US, but who knows if that's related or if its just confirmation bias. Supposedly if you want to get a premium battery Odyssey is still good. I had a Sears Diehard Platinum (which was a rebadged Odyssey) in my Jeep and had no complaints but I only had it for about 3 years so that's not the best test. Honestly I don't know that a premium battery is really worth it for these cars.

Cool. I think the only other part of my exhaust I'll consider changing is the header for a catted UEL one (car's already pretty loud as is with the muffler delete).
