Rear bumper parking sticker?

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and I just got a whiteout 2015 FR-S. I would like to park my car on the street but they require a Residential Preferred Parking sticker affixed to the left rear bumper. How does the sticker affect your paint and what do you guys recommend me to do? I heard that parking officers will still give you a citation if you put the sticker inside your car. Have anyone tried doing a small piece of vinyl onto the car and then stick the sticker on top of that? Thanks guys!!!

I would just do like you said and put a small piece of clear vinyl on first. No idea what the stickers are like but would bet they are meant to stick well (or else loads of people would have stickers that weren't issued to them) so may cause issues when you want to take them off.

Leaving a good coat of unbuffed wax before applying the sticker ( and then buffing off the wax around the sticker afterwords) might help to avoid damage when you eventually remove it.

Or it could fall off on it's own as wax is specifically made to repeal materials. Would be worth a shot though if you cant get clear vinyl.

Ive had problems with these sorts of stickers in the past. What i started doing was putting a piece of clear box type tape on the most inconspicuous part of the bumper that you can get away with, then applying the sticker to the tape. When ready to remove, simply peel back off the tape and clean the area of any possible residue. Havent had an issue doing this, yet.

Some of these stickers are a true pain in the ass to remove if you simply stick them on as they direct.

This or ask if the bottom corner of the rear window would do?

How about putting the sticker on a magnet and attaching it to the trunk lid next to the license plate.

I thought the trunk was aluminum (not magnetic).

In Hawaii we have safety check stickers that have to be applied to the bumpers....But we're able to use brackets for the safety check sticker.
Maybe you could use a bracket like that for your parking sticker. The Scion dealership here put the bracket on my car. The bracket was $21.00.

just use vinyl cut to just a tiny bit larger than your sticker. that way it wont matter what color the vinyl is because it will look like just a border on the sticker.

also, if you for some reason cant get vinyl, just stick it on your tow hook cover lol

If you want something clear but would blend in easier with the paint, use the 3M Paint Defender.

Mask off a square area larger than your sticker, block off the rest of the bumper, and spray a liberal coat of it so it's relatively thick.

After it dries, then apply the decal.

I have leftover 3M product, if you are in SoCal I can probably just give you what's left in the can.

Thank you so much for your support and great responses guys I'll look into doing the vinyl, but how easy is it to remove the vinyl once you don't want it there anymore and does vinyl affect the paint of the area around the vinyl sticker?
