Morizo short-stinted, lost one place to 75th, replaced by Kleen.

After seeing the last wreck, the Toyota Board of Directors may have had an emergency meeting to review the succession plan.

The #90 Toyota Supra finished 3rd in class and 44th overall with "Morizo" (Mr Toyoda) taking the final stint and crossing the finish line. The car completed 137 laps of the Nurburgring and finished 5 laps down to the class winning Aston Martin AMR GT4 and 1 lap behind the second place BMW M4 GT4. Its fastest lap was 9:14.890. Those are respectable results for the car's maiden outing.

In other news, the SP3 class was won by the #115 Toyota GT86 which completed 129 laps and finished 67 overall. It was followed in class by another GT86 and a Toyota CH-R ahead of a bunch of Renault Clio, an Opel, a VW and 2 more GT86. The GT86 has dominated this class in 24hr endurance races almost since its introduction.

Soon all the new Supra haters talking shit can finally get the Toyota master race sports car they've been begging for. Should have enough time to sell your house and close escrow before it's released.

LFA and a few others are pretty low too.
The Corvette probably does it by mostly adding weight down low and reducing weight up high compared to the 86 like having more carbon fiber, aluminum and fiberglass. If you just look at their drivetrain, body height (48.6 vs our 52”), seat height, etc compared to ours this becomes obvious. The engine could sit lower in a car’s subframe and if it has a dry sump then this could add to that. The LS motor has a low COG for a V8 anyways.

I've mentioned this before about the Corvette CoG. Just look at the ride height and wheel gap versus the 86 and you can see how it's lower very easily. It's not really rocket science.

Height:
C7-48.6"
86-50.6"

Now add in the extra slam/less ground clearance of the C7 versus the 86 and you can see how much advantage the boxer is giving the 86. If it bothers you, just drop the 86 1-2 inches and you're easily past the CoG of the C7 no prob. The pushrod LS V8 is great, but it ain't no boxer on the CoG front. It's def better than any DOHC V though as long as volumetric efficiency isn't a concern. Pick your poison.

Well BMW makes 4 door versions of their 2 door cars....

and 2 door versions of their 4 door version of their 2 door cars..

Theres really no point in making a 4 door supra...whats the rear doors gonna do? Easier access to a rear storage cubby?

Honestly, I would consider this 4 door/4 seat over the 2 door/2 seat version. That's a great looking 4 door. I'm not at all enamored with the 2 door version. I think the extra cabin length balances out the look better.

I agree that the slight stretch helps with the proportions but why not leave a coupe a coupe.. especially if the rear parcel shelf is masquerading as a seat.. the Beemers are slightly different as the coupe version tend to be pretty near to the 4 door version perhaps with a slightly more rakish roof...

Reminds me of a Giulia, and that isn't a bad thing.

Many of Mercedes 2 door/4 door (205 C class for example) are built on the same chassis. The body proportions have more to do with the appearance than anything else.

Meh. It is just like all the 4 door, pick up, hatch back, convertible, targa renders that came out after 86 was released. The render geeks have nothing real to speculate about so they just start making stuff up. The real fun starts when motoring.au get's there hands on it and state "High Ranking Toyota Official Says Supra Sedan To be Released in 2022".

Gotta get those clicks!

Wasn't the Chaser the "Supra sedan" back in the day?
