Any better options you have seen for rebuilds?

I have rarely had issues with 4th, but my last track day I had 2 instances where i felt "locked out" of 4th.

Going to do a fluid swap, was already on Motul 300. Was planning to change fluid this spring but it was out of stock at our distributor. Fluid has 15k, and about 15 track days and 30 autox on it.

That is way, way too much time on that fluid. You have to shorten your maintenance intervals if you're driving the car hard.

I have just picked up a used FRS to do some stock-c auto-x and HPDE days, The car will also be driven on weekends <10k/yr .Both myself and wife are novices. What would your recommendation be for a good all around tire and size for the stock 17x7 wheels? The RE-71R and Z2-SS seem to be the popular choices and 215/45, 225,45, 235/40 the most used sizing. In regards to brake pads, will a dual purpose compound suffice? Could you recommend a specific pad to meet my needs? Thanks

Do the 225s and buy street pads and track pads or just deal with the dust/noise of the track pads on the street. I like Carbotech pads, but that's up to you.

Has anyone seen wear like this (or rubber buildup possibly) on the inside shoulder of their rear tires? This was my LR tire. RR tire looked similar, but not as pronounced.

This was after an open track day (about 3 hrs total run time) on new RCE T2's and fresh alignment. Tires were BFG Rivals. Alignment was as follows:

Quote:
Front Left:
- caster 5.8 degrees
- camber -2.4 degrees
- toe 0/0"

Front Right:
- caster 5.9 degrees
- camber -2.4 degrees
- toe 0/0"

Rear Left
- camber -1.6 degrees
- toe 1/16" in

Rear Right
- camber -1.7 degrees
- toe 1/16" in

I had similar or worst wear. I had Toyos R888s and they would wear really bad on the inside.

We had the same toe in as well. We went for 0 toe and the wear became alot better.

Thanks. My old alignment had 0 toe in the rear, so that would make sense why I've never seen this before. Hmm... sounds like I may need to go back to 0 toe.

Yep, my rears have that after a track day at Putnam Park and the 650+ miles home. Similar alignment. In my case it was just rubber pickup, it peeled right off. Looks the same on yours, to be fair.

Ok thanks I'm going to try peeling it off tomorrow. Hopefully that's all it is.

Do you happen to have pyrometer readings?

No tire temp readings unfortunately.

I tried picking at it today. It's stuck on there pretty well and comes off in small bits and pieces. I noticed the inside part of the tread is smooth compared to the rest of the tire surface which is rough/grainy (and elevated a bit in comparison).

Here are a couple more pictures after picking at it.

The more I inspect it, I'm concluding that I'm not using that inside part of the tire and what I'm feeling is either the boundary of OPR or rubber migration towards the inside. To sum it up I think I need more rear camber... which is where I think @CSG Mike was going with the pyrometer comment.

+1 on the agree. I'm at -2.6 and -1.9 and I need more rear camber... you definitely need more. I've done enough autocross and track days that my street driving isn't evening out the wear, so if I keep the BRZ I'll be running more camber next year.

Yeah might agree with that comment of more neg camber. I use 2.5 on the rears with 0 toe
