@JoeBoxer - you are the man

I paid for college working as an audio/video guy but it's been years! Does JL produce a decent 3-way separates setup for the front?

The C5 653 is a really nice 3 way setup, i know guys that have purchased the whole set just for the 4" mid. The 4" is a little big and won't drop in directly though, my recommendation would be a JL XD500/3 and either C5 or C3 2 way components to go with the Stealthbox. If you want me to try and do a package for everything i can check on that too.

Definitely interested, sounds like a better option ($$) than what the OEMAudio+ guys are offering. I've tried to get them (OEMAudio+) to sell me the parts individually but they require you buy their entire package >_<

Keep us updated!

@JoeBoxer - i've always loved a nice set of 3-ways. I still remember my first 3-way Dynaudio system with a 1" tweeter, a 4" dome mid, and a 8" mid woofer. It was sublime. Since the BRZ is my daily i'm willing to spend a bit of coin on a proper A/V system.

So if I understand correctly, you're saying the 4" mid in the C5 653 won't drop-in at all... Is it because the hole is too shallow? The 4" mid is too deep or is it a diameter problem? I would *love* to get a 3-way in there.. i'm even willing to let go of a sub for a proper high powered 3-way setup.

Thanks

Might be able to make them fit and put the tweeter in the pillars?

This is what I plan on doing when/if I ever get home and get my car back. IIRC, the A-pillars have a fairly flat surface, so it should be easy to put a tweeter there. I even bought a spare set of pillars just in case I make a mistake.

I already have a 3-way setup, but if I was starting from scratch I'd have to go with Hybrid Audio speakers. The Legatia series sounds amazing, but is pricy. IMHO, though, they're worth the coin.

Morel and Hybrid are both excellent, if i had $900 for speakers i'd get the Morel Virtus 3 way but i'm not spending that much on speakers for this car.

We own a few sets of Morels, having owned Hertz, Rainbow and a few others, wow...expensive, yup, but if you like SQ, its worth it.

I was hoping to avoid the A-pillars because iirc there's an airbag there. That panel is designed to deploy a certain way. I'm not sure if there's space but more importantly i'm cautious of modifying for fear of improper air bag deployment. Let me know if i'm overthinking this... it's been awhile since i've installed anything in the 12V audio world.

Pillars are easily doable I've seen quite a few already, cruzinbill has some awesome ones with the mid and tweet in them. For this car though I think 2 way is perfectly acceptable unless you have the processing on hand to do 3 way properly.
